Misty Russell, a mother of three, had just moved to Greenville, South Carolina, and was ecstatic for her 8-year-old daughter to attend school in-person in a new state and school district. But, after visiting her daughters elementary school in August, she noticed most adults did not have on a mask, and her excitement turned into anger and fear, she said.
And last week, her daughters class was exposed to COVID-19, forcing the child and her classmates to quarantine and transition to virtual learning.
The schools job is to provide a safe environment for your kids to go to school,
which theyre choosing not to do because they just fall back with [the governors mask ban], Russell said. Well, to me, you should do whats right and let the chips fall where they may and stand up for the kids. I dont care what the governor says. Its basically like, the house is on fire, and were just gonna sit there and watch your kids burn.
Why [are] all these adults sitting around and pointing fingers, but nobody is really having the courage to stand up and say, My kids life is more important than your political statement, Russell said. Its life or death.

(95,244 posts)Nothing, anywhere, nothing at all, is more important than a Republican politician's virtue signalling. Compared to standing in well with red-hat maggots in primary season, what are the lives young children? Dust and string, dust and string in the back of an empty drawer....

Is that too much to hope for?

(7,205 posts)Sorry. You are too late. And too ignorant to be in office.
If the deaths of dozens per day in hospital ERs and ICUs was not sufficient to make you think, Waitaminute! what would?
Resign! Let someone competent and not in thrall to Fox, OANN, and Newsmax take over. Think of the children, someone once said.

(6,227 posts)don't care. If college students in the south at a football game can yell "F**k Biden", do you think the schools care? No offense, but I would never live in the south.
