COVID notwithstanding, I'm traveling to Italy in two weeks

I have to give the airline proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test, fill out an EU passenger locater form, and pay for a second COVID test on arrival in Rome. Then I have to get another negative COVID test and fill out a declaration of being COVID free before flying back.

I also have to bring my CDC card to get into any restaurant, museum, office building, etc.

The airlines make sure travelers have all of the paperwork needed to get into the destination country before letting them on the plane.

You can't get on the plane if you don't have everything prepared and ready to present. The airlines even enforce those passenger locater forms.

STEP stands for Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. I've used it for years to make sure where I'm traveling is safe. They can also help you out if you have any problems. They will e-mail you if anything changes in the country your going to. I went to Russia 12 years age and still get notifications about them.

He is a NYer retired to Florida. He is Greek and has family in Greece. He was in Venice when the initial cv19 lock downs occurred. He met a woman in Venice, fell in love, and has not come back to the USA since going on vacation in early 2020.

for a long time, at least until the pandemic ends.

I'm 52, immune compromised, and diabetic. Why didn't this pandemic happen when I was in my 20s and healthy?

Italy is such a beautiful country. I even speak enough Italian to get by. My grandmother was Italian.

I had a family member die of Covid on February 9, 2021 and at her funeral, people were saying, "At least she got to go to Italy!" like a trip to Italy made her whole life worthwhile. And it probably did.

I hope you have a great trip.

went through all the steps required and could not have had a better time. I felt safer there than here in the US. The best was that there were very few tourists. It was like having a private tour of all the tombs and monuments. This was a dream of a lifetime which was postponed from last year. I hope you enjoy Italy as much as I enjoyed Egypt.

I’d be going business class, but just can’t imagine wearing a mask for the length of a flight.

Have a great time!
