(175,697 posts)He died long before I was born (ironically, of Spanish flu caught while embalming dead soldiers at an Army camp) so I never had the opportunity to discuss his work with him. It's hard to think of him working with all those toxins and probably few to no safety measures 100 years ago.

(23,238 posts)that planned to go to school to become a funeral director and he did a couple of internships at a local funeral home learning how to prepare the dead for burial. I couldnt get my head around it back then.

(175,697 posts)My father and uncle both chose different career paths. I know it's a necessary profession, but creepy. I do have the brush my grandfather used on the beaver top hat that was the style for his profession back in the day.
