(46,016 posts)But they have to allow the R's to speak. You happened to tune in while one of the idiots was talking. Blinken is on now.

(93,851 posts)Or are you happy with the Afghanistan withdrawal and feel that a review is not necessary?

(33,643 posts)Not their ability to multi-task, nor saying there should be no inquiry into the withdrawal at all.
That's maybe just me.

(93,851 posts)...just as AG Garland doesn't issue indictments at the pace some folks here demand.

(33,643 posts)Rather than what you actually posted ... which was fairly fallacious, otherwise I'd not have said anything

(42,210 posts)Which is a standard kind of thing in Congress. The 1/6 commission is working on gathering information - kind of makes sense to have that before they start hearings, don't you think?

(35,148 posts)was 8 months ago except for some political junkies the rest of the country has moved on and forgot about it. I think once the Senate refused to investigate it is too little too late.
If it was Democrats that tried to kill the Congress and VP they would be behind bars already. I am sure there would have been enough Democrats in the Senate willing to go along with a Republican investigation.

(18,486 posts)investigation. Among other things, everything that happened in Afghanistan occurred pursuant to policy and practice overseen by a distinct chain of command, written orders, etc. Investigating what occurred there is a considerably different process than investigating what occurred on January 6.
Moreover, the House Foreign Affairs Committee is overseeing the Afghanistan withdrawal and has no oversight or investigatory jurisdiction over the events of January 6, so the Committee focusing on what occurred in Afghanistan in recent weeks in no way interferes with or distracts from the January 6 investigation - which, by the way is well underway even if no hearings are being held right now (since, contrary to some assumptions, committee work and investigations involve considerably more than hearings, which ae actually a very small part of what a committee does).

(32,566 posts)One run by former republicans. They know how to fight and how to stay on message.

(12,540 posts)Much lower level type of hearing than the 1/6 Commission. No relationship between the two. They can both proceed concurrently. And are. Apples and bananas.
