California Gov. Gavin Newsom poised for victory in upcoming recall election as polls swing sharply i

Gavin Newsom is the second California governor to ever face a recall election and is likely to be the first to survive one.

All eyes are on the Golden State ahead of Tuesday’s recall election, a fast-approaching deadline for registered voters in California to vote by mail or in person.

The Democratic governor has spent months vigorously campaigning against the recall effort, which he has characterized as a radical GOP power grab that has left his career and California’s future hanging in the balance.

With his more than $70 million war chest, Newsom has blanketed airwaves and digital spaces with anti-recall ads featuring prominent Democrats such as Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and former President Barrack Obama. The governor has also made numerous campaign stops across the state to directly reach Democratic voters, and is even set to campaign alongside President Joe Biden in Long Beach late Monday.

It's just about as anxiety inducing as the presidential election.

Pretty much everything is dependent upon this. It could define the Senate if Difi decides to retire or her health removes her from the Senate. That would be a disaster.

Wednesday morning (if we win : )) I will be sending emails to both my congress critters asking what needs to be done to make this system less subject to the whims of people with a lot of money and no other grievance than "my guy didn't win."

If a governor is that bad, then impeach him/her. Otherwise vote them out in the next election. I can see no valid reason for these ridiculous recall elections. Most of the California referendums and initiatives need to go as well.

I lived in California for nine years and the referendums and initiatives were ridiculous. Other than that, voting in California was great. They really made it convenient and easy.

so how do they get changed? Can the legislature do it or is it put it up as a referendum?

I'd love to see a referendum to get rid of referendumbs.

I remember all-too-well the Democratic primary in Massachusetts in 1978, where Dukakis had an overwhelming lead in the polls against a far-right DINO – until election night when after notably low turnout, the DINO ousted Duke as our nominee.

But some will vote for him without knowing what he actually stands for just like they did with schwarzenegger.

Are on the way to Cali. Trump will be in Orange County by Wednesday for a rally. Stop the Steal. Billions of illegal Mexicans were welcomed across the wide open Cali border. Newsom sent buses. Soros provided thousand of taco trucks at election sites for lines.

The overreach by the GOP in Texas with their absurd abortion legislation and then the SCOTUS essentially backing them has shocked Democrats and Independents into realizing what the Republicans are capable of if allowed to control our government.
