(1,154 posts)It looks like the Gov. will beat the recall. The republican goal was to weaken him and his future political prospects. Time will tell how they do with that.

(19,549 posts)I'm calling it now. Bookmark and quote me when it's over. If, as expected Newsom does beat the recall by decent margin this week, 2022 will be a shoe in for him.

Some of the early polls that had Newsom losing are being disowned by those who conducted them. I don't believe he was ever in danger and when Elder came in, it was the final nail on the coffin. Add to that, Newsom now has a nice sizable war chest for re-election.
A California coup would have been a big boon for the GOP nationally and they were hoping that they had a glimmer of a chance. Looks like its gone, some are even starting to not just blame Elder for the loss, but Desantis and Abbot as well. Their executive orders are getting noticed.

On another note, my wife and I sent our "No" votes by mail weeks ago and they have been counted! Let's go Newsom!
