More than 2,600 LAPD employees have indicated that they plan to pursue religious exemptions, while more than 350 plan to seek medical ones, according to a source in city government who was not authorized to share the preliminary data.
Under the ordinance, city employees must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 5 unless they are granted a religious or medical exemption. Employees who receive exemptions will be subject to regular testing for the coronavirus, according to the ordinance.
City officials pushed back a deadline last week for employees to seek an exemption to the vaccination requirement, instead giving workers until the end of Monday to indicate that they plan to pursue an exemption. As of early evening on Monday, nearly 3,000 of 12,311 LAPD employees had done so, and the number could grow before a midnight cutoff. Preliminary figures were not available for other city departments.

public interface. There are people lining up for these jobs, just waiting for an opening. How about publicizing that there are soon to be a couple of thousand openings?
Screw these guys. Just screw them.
Oh, and check their records to see if all their other vaccinations are up-to-date. Religious exemptions my rosy Irish ass.

(43,049 posts)one has to prove it's a serious belief based on religion.
There are some individual congregations that are antivax, but they're more the snake handling types. Maybe some antivax Wiccans are out there. Goop fanatics?
I know of some Hasidic groups who have been antivax in the past but have no idea if they still are.

(652 posts)when he was moved to a rehab center that required the Covid vaccine. It worked. Since Covid started, he's been telling everyone who would listen that Covid is a hoax.
He switched to religious reasons to get out of being vaccinated. Then he told me that God will protect him from Covid. How grandiose! Underlying that, of course, is that since Covid is a hoax, God doesn't need to protect him.
He is quarantine for 2 weeks, and he was tested beforehand
I really don't understand how religion got mixed up in this, unless it's just a mostly fake way to get out of being vaccinated.

(652 posts)He was quarantined for 2 weeks when he entered the nursing home for rehab, after being tested for Covid. Within a week of being put in the general population, he caught Covid. He is too sick to talk to anyone, but not on a ventilator. We who love him (we have been friends since our divorce over 30 years ago) have unanimously decided, without discussion needed, not to say a word about how he brought this upon himself.
I begged him to get vaccinated because nursing homes are notorious for having unvaccinated staff and occupants. He is, after all, one of them.

(10,885 posts)about a respected 20-years-of-service cop. Handsome guy with a lovely wife and five kids, he was one of those guys who spend their free time working with kids and sports organizations and, yes - probably helping old folks cross the street. They touted the many honors he had received over the years, and what a loss his passing of COVID would mean to the community.
The piece ended with a plea from his wife that "Everyone needs to go out and get vaccinated NOW - That COVID is real and even if you start out strong and healthy, COVID will still win. The vaccine works!" You see, her husband felt he was "too healthy to be sick" and there was no reason for him to be vaccinated. Maybe he should have looked around his dinner table - he had SIX good reasons to be vaccinated. His healthy wife who had received her jab couldn't convince him.
I know these news stories are supposed to tug at our heartstrings, but I no longer "feel" for the people featured in stories such as these. The results are being proven everyday, and those who refuse to be vaccinated are playing Russian Roulette, not only with their health, but also with the health of everyone they are in contact with.
