Boston Mayoral Primary (closes 8 PM Eastern)

Cleveland Mayoral Primary (closes 7:30 PM Eastern)

Iowa House District 37 Special election (closes 9 PM Eastern)

California Governor Recall Election (closes 11 PM)

Sonoma County District Attorney Recall Election (closes 11 PM)

1. I hope to hell after all is said and done, CA overhauls this ridiculously "easy" recall mechanism

How anyone could think requiring only 12% of those voting in the specific election contest for the position in question--not 12% of registered voters--is rational, needs to take the ice pick out of their frontal lobe (or drive it all the way through).

The sitting official should be able to win in the replacement math.

If Governor Newsome gets 49% of the vote (by virtue of "keep" votes in the recall), an opponent with a smaller plurality should not replace him.

In essence, the recall should be a clean slate election. The sitting officer should be eligible to win on the same terms as the opposition.
