United Airlines workers with religious objections to COVID vaccine will be placed on unpaid leave

Florida governor threatens to fine counties for mandating vaccines
A man wrongfully spent 16 years on death row. Then died 9 years later from…

United Airlines told employees that they will be placed on indefinite unpaid leave if they refuse to get a Covid vaccine for religious reasons.

The company's vaccine mandate is much tougher than those imposed by many other companies, or the ones announced by President Joe Biden Thursday. The federal mandate, and many already announced at other companies, give employees a choice between getting vaccinated or getting weekly Covid tests. At United, it's essentially vaccination or termination.

Although United is granting accommodations for employees who have a valid medical or religious reason not to get vaccinated, it disclosed this week there would be costs for those who cite their religious belief as a reason not to be vaccinated.

Even the Catholic Church is encouraging people to get the shot. These people are hiding behind their religion, and kudos to United for not buying it.

About the same percentage of Amish around here wear masks as the percentage of other people. And when stores all had mask requirements, all the Amish wore them. And I have been told by someone who's husband drives them places, that some of them are getting vaccinated. I personally cannot attest to the truth of that but she would have no reason to lie about it.

No snakes were harmed in the creation of the vaccine and they all had their own legal representatives review their contracts prior to testing.

I would NOT allow a religious - or ANY OTHER objection to allow somebody to avoid getting vaccinated. Unless there's a legitimate MEDICAL reason, CONFIRMED by a legitimate doctor (AND a second opinion). And in that case, those folks should be quarantined in their homes for the duration. Because if they're medically absolved from getting vaccinated, they're still potential - if not ACTUAL - carriers of the virus, and they CAN spread it to others.

Sorry. But there's a KILLER pandemic STILL ON THE LOOSE out there, and we are NOT getting a good handle on it while scofflaws and unruly renegades insist on continuing as COVID carriers. Because that's what they are if they won't get vaccinated.

And I'm forced to ask - ARE WE REALLY determined to conquer COVID? Cuz any wiggle-room or possible wiggle-room that allows people to fail to cooperate toward this goal for ALL the people in our country, citizens and non-citizens alike - is a fast-lane approach to get sick, and worse, it's PROVEN to be a very likely death sentence.

Otherwise, how does one explain the new stats?

As of 9:41am THIS MORNING:
Confirmed cases US - 41,380,927
Deaths US - 666,278
Confirmed cases worldwide - 225,405,118
Deaths worldwide - 4,643,463

and I know that Christian Scientists are not a statistically large amount of the population. I can't understand people's fears or hesitancy about the vaccine. Millions of people have gotten one vaccine or another for COVID and scores of people are not dropping dead because of it. It just beggars belief.

was a Christian Scientist. She said that medical care - surgery, vaccinations, chemo therapy, etc. - are not absolutely forbidden. According to her, they are supposed to seek spiritual health and guidance in healing, but are permitted to get medical help when necessary in life threatening situations because they reason that some people are not able to generate enough spiritual strength to overcome physical problems.

So it looks to me like even Christian Scientists do not have valid religious objections to the vaccine.

Personally, I do not believe that there is such a thing as a valid religious objection to getting vaccinated during a life threatening pandemic. I have no patience for people who try to claim such exemptions.

the Tetanus shot as recommended or risk Lockjaw?

"Tetanus is an infection caused by bacteria called Clostridium tetani. When the bacteria invade the body, they produce a poison (toxin) that causes painful muscle contractions. Another name for tetanus is “lockjaw”. It often causes a person's neck and jaw muscles to lock, making it hard to open the mouth or swallow."

in a joint press conference with the county executive and the county health department director just announced that vaccines are required for admission to Bills games. There will be NO religious exemptions.

He also owns the Buffalo Sabers hockey team. The same applies there.

For the next game, they will admit people who have had one shot. By October 31, spectators and visitirs must show proof of FULL vaccination to be allowed into the stadium or hockey rink. No exceptions. Children under 12 will be allowed to attend only if they are with a vaccinated adult and must wear a mask the entire time.

For polio, small pox, etc ...

Many get shots to be able to travel.

They are not going to hell for that are they? They were willing, or their parents were, to accept vaccines.

Then of course one could expand that argument to accepting science at all. iphones, cars, even other medical scientific advancements fighting cancer, and other diseases. Do they also reject all of that too? And for what? Because God said not to? Where? I grew up in a strict religious house, and I don't remember this kind of anti-science position.
