Will the GOP go full anti-vaxx?

GOP condemnation of Biden coronavirus mandate fuels concern other vaccine requirements could be targeted

Republicans’ sweeping denunciations of President Biden’s plan to force more people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus are raising concerns among public health experts that this heated criticism could help fuel a broader rejection of other vaccine requirements, including those put in place by schools and the military, as the issue of inoculations becomes increasingly political.

Over the weekend, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) declared on Twitter that there should be “NO VACCINE MANDATES.”

More than a dozen other prominent Republicans in Congress and in the states have made similarly defiant statements in recent days, often using inflammatory rhetoric. In South Carolina, Gov. Henry McMaster pledged to fight Biden and Democrats “to the gates of hell” on coronavirus vaccine mandates, while Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.) condemned Biden’s recent mandate as “authoritarian” and the work of “a power hungry government.”

Rep. Jim Banks (Ind.) declared in a tweet Sunday evening that “vaccine mandates are unAmerican!”

that these morons get their talking points from trump, and like trump everyone of these idiots have been fully vaccinated!

One thing I just can't understand is why they haven't figured out that most all the people buying into their BS are trump cult followers, and they are also the vast majority of people who "will" get Covid, and possibly die. You would think that someone could do the math and see that this is not good for voter turnout!

3. Vaccine mandates have been with us since our founding, ordered first by George Washington himself.

Supreme Court in 1907 upheld vaccine mandates, so precedent is well over 100 years old. Handmaiden and crew don't care, they will rule for the right wing, come what may and then lie about it being political - total hypocrites. I just hope 2 of them (so one to join Roberts) know how badly this will make the court look, ruling for death, for partisan political and religious reasons - nothing to do with the constitution, law or legal precedent or living vs. dying. I really hope I'm wrong about this, but Handmaidens very public hand wringing seems to be to be pre-emptive cover for her planned sharp turn to the right and total disregard for precedent and even actual facts.

They make the US look foolish and ridiculous.

Our democracy and freedom are looking like bad ideas for any sane person to embrace.
