Kansas GOP lawmaker who kicked student in the balls retains place on Education Committee

because didn't he just do what the GOP does to the country on a daily basis?

A member of the Kansas state legislature who was accused of kicking a student in the groin pleaded guilty on Monday to three charges of disorderly conduct and received probation.

Mark Samsel, 36, was arrested at a high school in the Wellsville school district in April. He was acting as a substitute teacher in an art class when he had altercations with two teenaged students, the Associated Press reported.

The student told police that Samsel pushed him against a wall and kicked him, reporting that "his back and testicles were in pain" afterward, the AP reported from an affidavit.

Samsel, a Republican, represents the area of Wellsville in the Kansas state legislature, where he sits on the Education Committee. He did not immediately return Insider's request for comment.

And he's also delusional - he claimed God told him to do it:

The sheriff’s deputy said in the document that he asked the lawmaker why he had put his hands on the boy, and Samsel pointed to the ceiling. When the deputy asked Samsel whether God told him to do so, Samsel answered, “Twice.”

“He stated he knew it was wrong and he shouldn’t do it, he stated he did not want to do it,” the affidavit said. “He stated, ‘The whole world is telling me not to do it, God said, Yes.’ Mark believes this was God’s plan.”

Samsel told the deputy that he didn’t “want to do any of the things I did right there” and suggested he might end up in a psychiatric hospital “because it has all the appearance of a psychotic episode or manic episode,” the affidavit said.

The deputy said a female student told him Samsel at one point grabbed her by her shoulders, though he was “not aggressive.” She said he asked her: “Do you have mental problems?”

90 day suspended sentence. No fine (a measly $263 in court costs). And he retains power over his victim, thanks to the sadistic GOP.
