I found a strange piece of campaign literature under my door when I came home today

It was put out by the "American Future Fund" (more on that below) and what made it strange is that the whole thing was about Paul Ryan - no mention of Willard at all.

It's two letter size pieces of page, folded so it makes for a nice little 8 page brochure (color, both sides, lots of pictures). The front of it has a picture of Ryan and the words "What do we really know about this man?' The next two pages have a quote across the top from Erskine Bowles (and dated 8/4/12) saying "Have any of you met Paul Ryan? I'm tellling you this guy is amazing...And, he's honest. He is straight forward. He is sincere."

Below this there's a brief biography of Eddie, including all sorts of familiy pictures.

The next to pages are the "facts" (quotes mine) about his budget. "Strengthening" Medicare; claiming his plan puts patients not "government bueraucrats" in controls of their health care decisions. Then there's all sorts of drivel about his "Plan to Proseperity for America's Middle Class".

The final couple pages are "bi-partisan praise for Paul Ryan's Approach to issues". And let me extend a big thanks to those "third way"/Blue Dog types, Senator Ron Wyden (D-Or), Erskine Bowles, and Rep. Dan Boren (D-OK) as well as Joey Lieberman for going along with anything Ryan ever said so their quotes could be used in this piece.

I don't recall ever getting a piece of campaign literature about a VP candidate - and certainly not one that doesn't mention the top of ticket. I have to wonder if the outfit that put this out has given up on Willard and is starting to push Eddie for 2016. I sure can't figure out why anyone would drop this in my apartment building as one look at it should make it pretty clear that no one here is anywhere close to being part of the 1% - maybe they assumed it makes everyone here dumb enough to fall for this crap.

Now, about the "American Future Fund".

This is from their own website:
[div class = "excerpt"]
The American Future Fund operates as a 501(c)(4) and was formed to provide Americans with a conservative and free market viewpoint to have a mechanism to communicate and advocate on the issues that most interest and concern them. Conservative and free market principles will be under direct attack in America. In light of that, it is imperative there be a voice for conservative principles that sustains free market ideals focused on bolstering America’s global competitiveness across the country.

The American Future Fund is established as a multi- state issues advocacy group designed to effectively communicate conservative and free market ideals.

The American Future Fund will continue to educate citizens across the country on common conservative principles.

Wiki provides a few more details that won't be surprising to anyone here:
[div class = "excerpt"]

The American Future Fund is an Iowa based 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organization affiliated with the Center to Protect Patient Rights, which in turn has reported ties to billionaires Charles G. Koch and David H. Koch.

American Future Fund was founded by individuals who worked for Mitt Romney's 2008 bid for the Republican U.S. Presidential nomination. Nick Ryan, an adviser to Republican US Representative Jim Nussle founded the organization in 2007 , with Nicole Schlinger,( a GOP leader in Iowa) as its president. Its current president is Iowa Republican state Sen. Sandra Greiner.

The group "advocates conservative and free-market principles" and an energy agenda that includes support for drilling offshore and in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge.

In his state. maybe it's from that. Your story just struck me. So these same Repukes who despise the postal service, and wish it gone, rely on those workers to deliver their shit in the mail. Heavier bags for carriers all for what. Some moron who would love to see that postal worker out of a good paying job. The post office should just throw those away, I know I do.

there is no reason to drop literature for a Wisconsin candidate. That would be really weird.

This was not delivered by the postal service. It was actually pushed under my door so some campaign worker came through the building doing this.

I've never quite understood the fascination Republicans have had of the guy. He supported TARP, and then blamed the Democrats for it. He has that budget plan of his, which was full of gimmicks. Yes, it cuts Medicare, but it just puts the money back into other things. So, it didn't even cut spending like they were claiming. And the alleged date of a "balanced budget" would be, get this, in the year 2030, and this they accomplish by assuming, by magic, that we will have 2.3 percent unemployment (which has never happened in the history of the country) and 5 percent growth in GDP. Nothing in their plans explain how this happens, they just use those nice numbers so they can claim that they were accomplishing something.

But Mr. Wonk is a liar. It's one big ass gimmick. For all their hubbub about the deficit, their big plan essentially accomplishes nothing and hopes and prays that we will have magical growth in the economy to cover the deficit because they basically don't even have a plan. And this was BEFORE Ryan signed up with Mittens, and the pattern remains the same. No fooking plan and same assumptions about 4 to 5 percent magic growth in the GDP.

So these idiots are over there praising this guy for being a fooking genius, but there is no reason to even believe it. It's all a lie. The entire Republican party is a lie. All their plans are lies. All their principles are lies. All their stated goals are lies. The only thing that is holding them together is hatred of President Obama, which has accelerated to such a horrendous degree that I don't see any Republican forum on the internet that has not transformed into an echo-chamber of mass delusion.

5. The Romney internal polling...

...is probably revealing That Ryan is popular with the base. Romney isn't exactly big with the Repub base, especially with his recent dive to the middle. Our local conservative radio host dogs Rombey daily.

The reason it was all about Ryan's positions and not Romney's is because by the time it was delivered all of Willard's posiitions would have changed
