"That's not a loss. That's a draw."

David Gardner @byDavidGardner 1h
Norm MacDonald on battles with cancer: “I’m pretty sure, I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure if you die, the cancer dies at the same time. That’s not a loss. That’s a draw.”

(lost my sister-in-law to cancer just last night. Weird, confounding, familiar time in the household. Fuck cancer.)

Both items, actually. Obviously, I have no conception of what your sister was like, but I'm going to imagine that she was pretty much like you - liberal, progressive and open-minded.

I don't want to lose one. Deep condolences to you and yours.

Norm is also a big loss. I had no idea until a couple of years ago how highly he was regarded by his peers. He was completely original and unique. LOTS of stories about him and his exploits.

I didn't want to lose him, either.

...wife's adjusting to life without the daily vigil, and I think it's going to be okay.

The poor dear's husband and family, as well.
