(6,796 posts)The AP has always leaned right. Hunt is 💯 percent a right leaner. I remember when she was a reporter in Congress. I clocked her as an Andrea Mitchell clone. Was amused at her seeming crush on Paul Ryan. When she interviewed him or asked him questions, I swear her tongue would hang out and gushing over him would be an understatement. You are right I never liked her and happy she is gone from MSNBC.

(15,325 posts)Odd she speaks of the "elites" with such disdain as she herself is a multimillionare & her husband exists in that "elite" media circle as well.
*******
"Kasie Hunt's husband, better known as Matt Rivera, he is a multimedia producer, reporter, and an adjunct professor at New York University.
A graduate of NYU himself, throughout his career, Rivera has worked as a video journalist for The Wall Street Journal and NBC.
As an adjunct professor, Rivera teaches classes on video production and journalism.
While at NBC, Rivera served as the senior digital producer for Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, and has had his worked featured on A&E, BBC, and the Travel Channel."

I've honestly never heard her utter a positive statement about a Democrat,
It's not difficult to see why she ended up on MSNBC when she did.
Think of the "elite" Media circle of Chuck Todd & Andrea Mitchell. That's her fit.
And yes, all 3 of them could move to Fox & be quite at home.

There's not a lick of honor in any of them as journalists, anymore.

The exact meaning of getting ratioed on Twitter.
The world of social media is a magical place, a place that has a language no non-social media user can actually understand. Case in point: Shifting and shadow banning on TikTok. Oh, and don't forget Heather.
If you're on social media, especially Twitter, you've probably seen the term "ratioed" flying around. People have been tweeting the word without so much as an explanation. Is it a mathematical equation? A special sort of sum? Thankfully, we're here to help. Here's the definition of "ratioed" on Twitter.
What does getting ratioed on Twitter mean?
According to Urban Dictionary, being ratioed (sometimes spelt "ratio'd" is when "a reply to a tweet gets more likes than the tweet it was replying to usually indicating the unpopularity or stupidity of the original tweet." For example, if your tweet got 10 likes but a reply got 10,000 likes, you have sadly been "ratioed".
...snip...
It's also worth noting that getting ratioed is considered a sign of failure. It's not exactly a compliment so when it happens to you, it's best to hang your head in shame.

(90,675 posts)I know it slips a bit here and there, but when Kornacki called the results they were at 67% to 33% I think.
Do let us know, because that tweet (the ones we saw anyway) was unbearably sneering. Newsom won, Kasie and so did Biden.

When they can barely say the names of Newsome & Biden or Kamala Harris without that Andrea Mitchell sneer that curls her lips at the corners & flares the nostrils, then it's time to take a seat at Fox or stop talking.

(1,879 posts)...by the exit polls it was going to be a landslide.
At 11:01 Eastern Kornacki was ready to call it.
The problem with Kacie is she has zero business in her job.

(17,026 posts)In one her tweets she said that since Newsom faced a recall, that was a sign of weakness (paraphrasing), got called on it, and then said yes CA was "special place". She has no clue how easy it is for repubs to call for a recall, and doesn't seem to be interested in learning.

(25,544 posts)I listened to her on her morning program because Im driving to Philadelphia from the Jersey shore every morning. I do not believe that I missed five of her programs which I would initially begin listening to at 5:15 AM Eastern standard time. During that time, she often excoriated in extremis the insurrectionists from January 6, and was clearly, at least in my opinion, fairly horrified by the behavior of Trump and his minions.
People like Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace who were loyal Republicans have clearly understood the nature of this fascist group, and for now at least have switched sides from an electoral standpoint. Im not certain what is going through this womans mind yes she thinks that condemning Democrats is somehow going to endear her to the powers that be during a time in which we are in full cultural battle.
Im very upset to read this, because I thought that she had, at least for a while, some clear sensibilities as to right and wrong. I may have been very well mistaken.

Must be why KCDC did so bad in ratings.

(23,099 posts)How right wing and stupidly totally wrong of her. No wonder she left MSNBC, she's a total right winger. Newsome won by 30% and this is what she does? FFS!!!!! She should be let go from her current job, she's bonkers.

(101,312 posts)as her personal opinion thinks they should be.
I'd say the "big picture" is that Newsom won the recall vote by, so far, slightly more than he was elected in the first place. So, overall, Californians seem OK with how he's governed. Or, if you want, still see the Republicans as far worse.

(11,736 posts)While it is true that Newsom's "French Laundry" situation was dumb and very bad optics, Liberals do not typically begrudge people's ability to acquire wealth and live a lifestyle that appears more glamorous. If they work for it and earn it, then it is their privilege. What we don't like is when those people pull the ladder up behind them. When they are greedy. When there is ALWAYS more money for what they want, but NEVER enough for the actually needs of others. THAT is a Republican thing, a Conservative thing.
When I went to school, whether it was grade school, under graduate, or grad school, I understood that in the subject area, my teachers/professors had more knowledge and information than I did. I respected the expertise. When I see a politician like Biden, Obama, even Newsom, who have been around, held different positions and seem to understand the technicalities of the job or have a skill set that is applicable, I respect that. I don't always agree with everything, but I respect it. If they are called the "elite" then so be it, they are the professionals.
Republicans seem to think that just because you are wealthy, or appear so, that you are better at everything than everyone. That is where they go wrong. They do not understand nuance. They do not understand that subject expertise is important. LeBron James can kick my ass in basketball, but I bet I know way more than he does about social work, counseling, and human service. Republicans think that because they are millionaires, that they deserve to be listened to. Why? What the hell do you know. Donald Trump has FAILED at almost every business he has tried to get into. He has even failed at the business he was born into. The only business he has not failed at is marketing himself to idiots.
It isn't Democrats who have a problem with "elites". We can recognize nuance. We can criticize someone for making bad choices but still understand that they are good at their job. Republicans have a problem because their POLICIES are bad, and their IDEOLOGY is just fundamentally wrong.
