The media is just dreadful.
PatSeg
(47,284 posts)"Jealous middle school mean girl" - even though she is 36 years old, she seems to be perpetually stuck in adolescent mode. All those years on MSNBC, she never really matured and she is awful on camera.

(7,412 posts)No idea how she got that big job at MSNBC. Must be related to some one.

(5,697 posts)She got us stirred up, talking about her comments.

(18,486 posts)not to say stupid things to get us stirred up.

(2,248 posts)When reporters make it big by being given a host position, they tend to fill spaces with opinion and then they tip over becoming pundits. They BECOME the news to stay relevant. Richard Engel who covers the Middle East for NBC is wandering into that territory too even though he's still a field reporter.
Omnipresent
(5,697 posts)There is only so much in these news stories for the reporters to cover, so they have to throw their opinions in, to hold the viewers attention.
StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)Instead of covering the same two stories at a time ad nauseum and when they run out of things to report about them, babble on endlessly about their opinions masquerading as "analysis."
I'm sure people would be glad to watch if they cover a much broader range of news stories.
Omnipresent
(5,697 posts)Are probably lower attention getters to begin with, for them to even pad with personal comments.
StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)The stories they cover are attention getters largely because they spend so much time reporting on them. They often turn nothing stories into attention getters just by focusing on them 24/7. Hillary's emails are a good example of that.
There are plenty of other interesting stories that people would get people's attention if they were presented
.I think the press is just lazy and covering other stories is just too much work. So much easier to focus all their attention on a small group of stories that they can pound and pound and pound without having to do any real reporting.

(2,929 posts)she waffles for waffling sake , rather then inform with something relevant to say, on the topic been discussed. I generally tune her out when shes on.
malaise
(268,724 posts)but it looks like she's trying out for Fux.
PatSeg
(47,284 posts)I think her mediocre, wishy-washy style will work better there. MSNBC could never find a place for her where people didn't switch channels when she came on. I noticed a lot of comparisons to Chuck Todd and that really fits.
malaise
(268,724 posts)She's unbearable at any hour but that early show was the last straw for me
PatSeg
(47,284 posts)She always came across as an amateur, but she's been doing this for many years now and she hasn't gotten any better.

I cut newbies some slack, as I know it is hard to get used to being in front of the camera, but her initiation period ended a long time ago. If she doesn't have what it takes by now, she never will.
Of course, it doesn't help that some of her observations and opinions seemed a bit biased or uninformed.

There appear to be several on CNN...who are trying out for Fux!
Jake Tapper and Chris Cuomo, also seem to be auditioning for Fox...the 3 of them could be the new Fox & Friends, trio!!!
malaise
(268,724 posts)so that makes sense
PatSeg
(47,284 posts)It is like they aren't sure who or what they want to be - MSNBC lite or Fox lite. Trying too hard to please too many viewers, instead of trying to be a legitimate news network. I rarely ever watch them anymore. I've caught a few of Anderson Cooper's Townhalls when he had someone on that I wanted to see, but that's it.

(1,910 posts)Elite vs the rest of us she thinks is the driving force for the MAGAS? They would not vote for a Dem if that Dem worked at a factory next to them.
The driving force for the MAGAs is fear of anything different and wanting to return to a 1950s America where their whiteness gave them even more power than it does today. Its being mean just to be mean. Its allowing them to feel superior to other ethnic groups. For many its a religious fanaticism about the rapture.
The driving forces for normal voters is the economy, climate change, health care, education, security, the outlook for the future.
Wounded Bear
(58,605 posts)The one the MAGAs want never really existed except on television in the old 'family' oriented sitcoms.

(10,140 posts)I don't watch much propaganda...er news.
I get she is on MSNBC.
But why does anyone care that she is a right wing tool trying to disparage the Democratic party? Isn't that basically the job of corporate media? They trash all things not approved by the Koch bros and the filthy rich. What am I missing?

(19,187 posts)She's on CNN now, apparently for "balance".
If what she's doing is "balance" CNN needs a walker.

The thing about people who oppose public health measures, is they keep dying. Last I checked, Newsom got like 64% no on recall.

(53,743 posts)and seems to have taken a shot with the tweet that if Elder won, she would be the one who called it.
It was dumb, like she hadn't been following the recall at all and only listened to very early conjecture that "repulicans have a good chance at the recall because they're more energized to get out and vote than Democrats."
That was stupid and nothing but a conventional wisdom talking point hype by republicans and lazy journalists who kept repeating it because they had heard it being said by others.
