(16,829 posts)but accusations go back to as early as 1997. By No 2016 were at least 42 reported instances of sexual assault occurring in areas Nassar worked. Nassar was also facing additional lawsuits related to sexual abuse along with former associates, Bela and Marta Karolyi, former U.S. Olympics national team coordinators.
He was investigated in 2014, but no charges were filed.
I think Ally Raisman said it was 15-16 months time from her report to his arrest, and during that time he abused at least a hundred more girls and young women.
Over 100 girls and women had come forward by the time it went to court.
It wasn't just the FBI that failed. It was state and local authorities, the powers that be at Michigan State, US womens gymnastics, and so on. The people in power all covered for each other.
