Taking selfies with terrorists is not a good idea. Disclosing location of secret hiding place for leadership is really stupid

Three of the six officers allegedly took selfies with rioters. And one allegedly blabbed to a friend about the secure location to which lawmakers were evacuated during the attack.
One of the selfie-taking officers reportedly told investigators that he did so in order to identify the rioter later but that detail came only after the FBI informed Capitol Police that the officer appeared in photos that the bureau was using to obtain an arrest warrant for one of the rioters.
The officer also didnt use his own phone, nor did he obtain any information about the suspect. The officers who allegedly took selfies with rioters are accused of conduct unbecoming of an officer, McClatchy reported.
Another officer facing that charge became known as the selfie officer, McClatchy noted, because footage showed him taking photos with multiple people.
That officer told investigators he wanted to diffuse the situation, McClatchy reported.
I cant help what they do, he said, according to the reported documents. If you want to take a photo, Im not going to say no because we are always told to interact and keep the situation calm.
One officer accused of improper dissemination of information for allegedly talking with a friend about the secure location to which lawmakers were evacuated within the Capitol said he couldnt deny the allegation.

The leaking is reason enough to fire him -- this is a national security issue. The lack of candor is just icing on the cake.
Speaking of lack of candor, that selfie officer who claimed he intended to use the photo later to identify the rioter was lying to the investigators when he said that. He should be canned too.

Specifically, the lieutenant detailed how other squads wore Civil Disturbance Unit "hard gear," but the officer at the center of the complaint told his squad not to wear theirs. The lieutenant believed the decision "resulted in one or more officers being sent to the hospital."
The tipster also described the high-ranking officer leaning against a wall, taking no action, as other officers tried to hold back the mob.
It's unclear what investigators concluded in the case or if any disciplinary action was recommended. This spring, the Capitol Police inspector general told Congress that an order to hold back heavy riot-control weapons left the department at a grave disadvantage fighting the mob.
