California (under attack) taxpayers paid for Elder's rise

He is going to win the Republican nomination next June because Republicans are radical here. But from reading about Elder's watch party - in my neighborhood of Costa Mesa!!! - his platform is homelessness, crime, housing, education *cough, *cough. That's bunk. And merely a ploy to appeal to the middle.

He surged ahead of better candidates because he already had a radical following. But our tax dollars paid for this unwanted recall that served to obliterate the moderates.

Is this a good or a bad thing? The methods of recall elections in CA has to change. It is too easy , too expensive, and is being exploited.

From the L.A. Times:

"But dominion over a small conservative “resistance” — dominated by a shrinking minority of older, white voters — is not a formula to return Republicans to power in California, said GOP consultant Mike Madrid. “You can say you remained pure in defeat, but that’s just a martyr candidacy,” Madrid said. “It appeals to a core group that is the fastest-shrinking demographic in the state and in the country.”

What I clearly see is a party of exploitation by amoral politicians and media con men. How long have we been a country of amorality? Old words like "scruples" are going extinct along with civility itself. We need a rebirth.

If it's not a libertarian real estate slumlord hitting SBA for $40 million in loans, it's a politician trying to steal the system.

Did Elder really think he would make it? In the face of a popular Governor who flooded the state with relief checks? Voters have memories, they know who buttered their bread.

Was Elder an experiment for the GQP? How well can a POC do in our party? To me he was Herman Cain redux, but I can't guess or fathon if a fundamentalist white grifter would have done any better. There were 47 other GOP duds? Sweet day for America!

Elder has the rabid rethugs and their chicks most definitely.

Until we fix our broken media outlets and the lack of oversight and fact checking we're doomed to be in perpetual dysfunction.

Maybe a three strikes rule for talking heads. One lie, warning, 2nd lie, suspension, 3rd lie and you're off the public airwaves.
