My best friend/roommate's ex husband just died...

Rabid anti-vaxxer, Trump supporter, and previously very healthy man. Now my god child doesn't have a dad. Stupid, stupid, stupid! They are all heart-broken. I'm just getting angrier. How much death will it take to convince them?

no matter how frequently repeated... They are too deficient in empathy to change their mind based upon what they can observe happening to others. It doesn't register at all until it happens to them.

I was wondering how many of the crazies who would have voted for the recall died in California.

to them and led their family/friends to their deaths...

It's one thing for them to turn around and get vocal about how COVID is real and how the vaccines are necessary. It's another thing to really grapple with who deceived them and why and what that ought to wake them up to.

We who are vaccinated will need to use the utmost care, wearing masks and exercising social distancing at all times. Especially indoors and especially around people we don't know, because they might be lying about whether they've been vaccinated. Or they might be carrying the virus and not even know it.

The purpose of the vaccines (and they ARE working) is to ameliorate the worst effects of the virus. It will keep most of us out of hospitals, and save most of our lives.

This was posted the other day on DU:

What are the odds of getting Covid in the USA in 2021?

Unvaxxed
1 in 8 Chance of catching Covid
1 in 61 Chance of dying from Covid

Fully Vaxxed

1 in 13,402 Chance of catching Covid
1 in 86,500 chance of dying from Covid.

I think our odds look way better, and I can't understand why they aren't all getting vaccinated.

Until they become infected and even then the defiance, the unwillingness to relent is frequently the last thing to go. I've been stunned by some of these testimonials and vids. Yes, there are some of the deathly sick who reach out to family and friends with the warning: Don't repeat my mistake. For those individuals, I have a certain sympathy. Dying is a hard, hard way to learn a lesson.

But the vast majority? Up until the last breath, they're willing to give the world the finger.

F*ck 'em!

The kids are grown, nevertheless, they are heartbroken. Grandkids are as well.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Greg was an old, old friend. My husband and I were married in their home.
