https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/09/15/atf-says-auto-sears-are-becoming-more-common-in-twin-cities/That has the ATF actively searching for people who have devices that turn semi-automatic weapons into automatic weapons. Field agents are finding more of those devices being used in crimes across the state.
There's a video at the link. Gunners will always find a way. It's crazy making. An inexpensive device that replaces the trigger mechanism in readily available guns turns them into full auto machine guns capable of firing 700 times a minute and with high capacity magazines can be reloaded in less than a second! People are selling this shit to anyone who has cash! What the fuck is wrong with us???
Oh! For those who thought bump stocks were now "illegal", they're not. After the 2017 Las Vegas shooting that killed 60 and wounded more than 400 Donald Trump instructed the ATF to classify them as machine guns. A circuit court overturned that, so they are for sale again at your favorite gun store.
Meanwhile there's another device, a 'forced reset trigger'. It also emulates a full automatic machinegun. The ATF is questioning the legality of this device and, of course, the maker is suing the ATF. See, it all hinges on the definition of machine gun. Literally the verbiage of a 1934 law, not the actual function of the gun. It's nutz.

(54,051 posts)The kill rate will certainly "improve" with more machine guns out there. You can't expect Covid-19 to kill EVERYBODY, can you?

at least thats what it sounds like. Apologies for not going down the streets to verify (ha!).
I hear hand gun shots very frequently.
No, I dont want to say where I live, but the city is always at or near the top of the lists for violent crime.

(14,559 posts)the 'culture' if you will. If it weren't for the "gotta' have it 'cause it's a gun thing" regardless of its utility or appropriateness these things wouldn't exist. If they weren't purchased in sufficient volume to make them economically viable they wouldn't exist but because they do exist they turn up in the wrong places. Like neighborhoods. And they get people killed like little kids in their bedrooms in neighborhoods.
It's the whole gunner mentality and "culture".
So, yes, it IS the same thing.

(19,113 posts)Fires on trigger pull and fires on trigger release (hence "binary" ), meaning you double the rate of fire on a semiautomatic firearm. Fully legal for some explicable reason.
The local gun store and shooting range has some drop-in trigger packs in stock, but i can't see the purpose besides wasting already expensive ammunition to play Army.
