On Wednesday, Pepper—who’s repeatedly slammed mask mandates and refused to get vaccinated— said that he took two rapid tests and a PCR test for the coronavirus after he started to feel sick on Monday.

“Well, it has finally happened to me. Unfortunately, this morning I have confirmed two positive [tests] for Covid-19,” Pepper wrote Wednesday on Facebook. Everything In me wants to tell myself it is something different but every way I look it’s ‘Covid this, Covid that’ and it has terrified me and my family.”

Pepper wrote that he was “terrified” by the way that the media “continues to report on Covid-19 and explains ‘Death’ each time they do,” adding that he has “faith in the lord.”

“Maybe this will clear up soon and the symptoms of this sickness shall not progress as I can tell you, it feels terrible not to be able to breathe.”

I am strongly anti-fat shaming in general, but as carrying excess weight is a well known risk factor for dying of covid, I think it's relevant in this case. Anyone who contracts covd is almost guaranteed to have a worse time with it if they are fat, and the risk of dying is statistically higher. Fat people who scoff at covid and thumb their noses at masking and vaxxing are playing an even deadlier game than skinny people who do the same thing.

This weeks update isn’t going to be the best, but it’s an update.

Weed Abatements:
Yes, yes, we know we’re fining people for allowing they’re property to over grow and become a public nuisance. Trust me I get it, cutting the yard sucks but it has to be done. Don’t wanna do it but wanna save $285.00 or more from a fine? Their is plenty of businesses in Decatur who mow yards. It’ll be a lot cheaper and in some cases a lot neater (as in these people take cutting grass to a new level with the lines and all that) than myself could ever do. As usual it was a vote of 4-1 (Billy voted No) because someone doesn’t care about the city being clean…only in circumstances when it becomes a nuisance to them.

Grants:
We accepted some awesome grants to help advertise some interesting things involving the historical district including some grants to fix things. More information on those things can be found online!

Recycling:
For years, Decatur has allowed many government agencies to come in and dump their waste in our landfill for no charge. Now when ever someone brings in a load over a certain weight they will be charged a fee to help reduce cost on the city! Either way, we all work together as we always will.

Ambulances:
I’m not commenting. It’s been a huge topic lately and with as much conflict as I currently have, I have decided it would be best not to comment until I prepare a statement.

Other business:
