Los Angeles announces vaccination requirement for bars and theme parks
Los Angeles will require proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test at bars, breweries, wineries, nightclubs and lounges starting Oct. 7, Los Angeles County public health officials announced on Sept. 15.
The order will require both customers and employees at affected establishments to show proof of at least partial vaccination by Oct. 7 and documentation of full vaccination by Nov. 4. Health officials said they expect to issue similar requirements for theme parks later this week.
Although proof of vaccination or a negative test is currently required for people attending indoor events with 10,000-plus people, deemed mega events, health officials intend to apply such requirements to outdoor mega events as well. Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain, both in Los Angeles County, would become the first major theme parks in the U.S. to be affected by new vaccination requirements.
Public Health will issue a modified Health Officer Order later this week that would align with President Biden and require vaccination verification or a negative test within 72 hours prior to attending outdoor mega events, public health officials said. Attendees at indoor mega events are already required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result prior to entry.
