I'm old enough to have lived through the assassinations via the radial right. It's not that the left, during the '60s, didn't engaged in acts of violence, but it was truly the most extreme elements, and ultimately all of the left basically abandoned the tactic. However, the radical right has been killing since the mid '50s and really to a great degree has never stopped. Medgar Evers, Emmit Till, RFK, MLK, and Harvey Milk are merely the most prominent. So many gays were assaulted and murdered for decades by the radical right. Women who advocated for women's rights were assaulted, raped, and threatened during the '60s and '70s. And to this day, as in Jan. 6th, the radical right still asserts the right to assault and kill in "defense" of their political beliefs. Florida's right wing has passed laws protecting people who drive cars through people in public protests. They tolerate the mass killings that their gun "rights" legislation enables. And as they shrink in numbers, they become more violent. Now, strangely, they are "killing themselves" over mask and vaccination efforts. For all of their "pro life" claims, they surely have a certain penchant for violence, especially deadly violence.
