Is it really more important that kids be in school during this delta spike?

I don’t think so.

Winter spike kids were virtual. They were less effected. And they weren’t bringing it home to their parents and siblings.

Now they are back at school putting their life at risk. And their family at risk.

I gotta think this country is half assed backwards.

In the grand scheme of their lives, virtual schooling is much more sane, imo.

Much better than dying or living with long haul, or being orphaned when parents / caretakers catch it.

We know every year the flu explodes in schools.

Why risk it with Delta?

Where I am they've decided to stop the problem of shutting schools down by NOT QUARANTINING ANYMORE.

My MD daughter with 2d grade son said his school and principal are doing everything well; my NJ daughter, with 2d grade son and kindergarten daughter, not so much.

And there have been a few major outbreaks. Targeted quarantining versus complete shutdown seems a better approach. Thankfully, it looks like we are on the downhill-side of the spike (fingers crossed!).

My teacher wife is much happier in the classroom. She did not particularly enjoy the few months of virtual school last year.

I worked at my kids' elementary school and I keep saying that if they were still little, they'd be staying home and and so would I. Then I see parents on tv screaming that they want their kids to go to school without masks. I simply do not understand it at all.
