Our troopers, along with several law enforcement agencies across the state, want to make it easier for drivers to store the information and for law enforcement to see when motorists are reaching for documents.

OUTSIDE their cars.

Also, leaving it visible in the car when you get out is an invitation for thieves.

All told, this is impractical as well as it being lame in general that people have to worry about being shot while gathering their 'papers' to present to the authorities.

For the past five years.

Whoever thought this up hasn't left the house since the fifties.

If they don't have a bag, clearly they're up to no good.

I buy alcohol beverages. Am I supposed to carry their bag with me at all times? My DL is in my wallet, in a compartment where I can remove it instantly when needed. My auto insurance card is right behind it. My vehicle registration? It's in the glove box of my car, since it does not fit neatly into my wallet.

However, I am an elderly white male. I will not get shot by the police when I get it from the glove box. Still, I will tell the officer what I am doing when I get it.

I cannot remember the last time I was pulled over by the police. It was years ago. Maybe my elderly white male appearance has something to do with that, too.

I suggest the police change its attitude rather than asking me to change where I keep my papers.
