Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, the deeply conservative justice who has reliably voted in favor of the GOPs agenda from the bench, complained on Thursday that his critics were going to jeopardize any faith in the legal institutions.
I think the media makes it sound as though you are just always going right to your personal preference, the justice lamented during a lecture at the University of Notre Dame. So if they think you are anti-abortion or something personally, they think thats the way you always will come out. They think youre for this or for that. They think you become like a politician.
Thomas also seemed to take aim at progressives push to expand the Supreme Court in wake of Republicans repeated hijacking of the high court in recent years.
National leaders have lost the capacity to not allow others to manipulate our institutions when we dont get the outcomes that we like, said Thomas.

(2,843 posts)To explain that when they overturn Roe v. Wade, it won't be for political reasons! Covering their asses big time, they just can't wait for the opportunity. We all know it's coming, so they should just shut up.

(2,860 posts)Um...yeah...it's the 'institutions' that we don't have faith in. Sure, yeah, that's the ticket. Our institutions would be just fine without clogging them up with assholes like Clarence Thomas, Amy Coney Barrett and Justice Boofoo McGangrape just to name a few.

(30,613 posts)I think that's a sign that our politicians are seriously threatening to repair SCROTUS.
I sure hope the anxiety of Thomas and Barrett are well-founded.
We need to expand SCROTUS to 13.

If that isnt the follow up question to him then the press isnt serious. But we knew that.
