Hard right politicians are not the leaders many think they are.

They are actually cowardly, fearful followers. They are cowards who will not stand up to the fringe element of their constituents. They are fearful of being voted out of office if they do what they actually know is right. They are not leaders. They are followers. The leaders are the unrestrained CRAZIES who TFG unleashed on them by making craziness a virtue.

Free speech allows the crazies to say whatever they want. Cowardly leaders allow them to act on it. The rest of us are made to live in that environment, to a lesser degree in blue states and to a far greater degree in red states.

Leaders will need to do what is right and enforce laws. Don't mollycoddle the Crazies. Enfore the laws they break and enforce them quickly and surely.

How about some swift trials and swift convictions? How about trials and convictions, if legal, of the politicians who by their fear and cowardice encourage the Crazies?

The problem is the angry mobs of crazies. They have not been dealt with nearly as strongly as they ought to be.

Kevin McCarthy is a star example of a cowardly, fearful "leader".

1. Right wingers in general, require some kind of authority figure.

You are either the leader or a follower. Trump is the biggest bully so the others have cowered to him. McCarthy has never been any kind of real leader. He is more like an evil middle manager. He can do dirty work, but has no drive other than to stay near power. The equivalent of Lindsey Graham.

Unfortunately, a lot of people mistake pushiness for leadership. The best leaders inspire you to do the right thing because you believe in it. They guide and get you to follow. They don't have to order people to do anything.
