Missing the Real Story: Like Many Others, Milley Said Trump Is Nuts

I get the uproar over Bob Woodward's latest luridly compelling book on the administration of Donald Trump. Woodward is like a filthy tabloid version of Robert Caro, and he always squeezes every anecdote for maximum salaciousness. So in his telling, Gen. Mike Milley, Trump's (and now Biden's) Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, was so alarmed at Trump's behavior before the election and after the January 6 riot that he felt compelled to call his counterpart in China and say, more or less, "Don't listen to this president. We're not going to attack you."

What you're hearing mostly about Milley's two phone calls is that he was "treasonous," that he should be "court martialed," and that he should face "immediate dismissal" for undermining civilian leadership of the military. On the other side, Milley himself has defended what he did as proper and that it was "within the duties and responsibilities" of his position to tell other countries that the United States is not going to war with them. He's backed by other generals and President Biden. Chances are that this is really a big nothing sandwich that Woodward oversold and overhyped, as is his way.

And that's a whole interesting discussion we can and should have, but it really misses the whole fucking forest for a few shitty trees. Because, see, what's truly important about what Milley, along with then-CIA director Gina Haspel, said is to confirm that the United States was run by a dangerous and unstable fucknut whose naturally worst instincts were held in check by a few public servants who saw that Trump had the potential to fuck things up in an even more deadly and destructive way than he already had.

In other words, the person who is seen as the head of the Republican Party, who would win the presidential nomination in a walk, who is worshiped by millions of Americans, who has politicians bowing and scraping for his favor, yeah, that fuckin' guy is legit a goddamn maniac.

That's the story. That's what we should be talking about. Yeah, fine, we can get around to the debate over whether Milley overstepped his authoritah or whatever. But I'd like to put that on the back burner until we're done reckoning with and doing something about the murderous lunatic who's in charge of one of our two parties. See, when someone is trying to burn down my house, I'm not gonna worry if the pizza delivery guy overcharged me, especially if the pizza delivery guy stopped the arsonist. In that case, I'd probably just tell him, "We'll call this one a wash."

You can just toss Milley and Haspel, who called Trump's post-2020 election behavior "insanity" and said that he was "acting out like a six-year-old with a tantrum," onto the pile of former Trump officials in some of the most important jobs in government who have been quoted or have publicly stated that the ex-president is a mothefucking loon. You've got former national security adviser John Bolton, a loon himself, saying that Trump is "irrational" and a conspiracy-monger. You've got former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson saying that Trump acts impulsively and, perhaps, calling him a "fucking moron." You've got former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, former Chief of Staff John Kelly, and former Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer, among others, saying that Trump is, at best, an incompetent boob and, at worst, a danger to the existence of the country. We may never know how many times Trump took us to the brink of national calamity, only for someone to intervene and get him to back off. We know how his insane insistence on bullshit and lies prolonged the pandemic and got hundreds of thousands killed. Goddamn, what else could he have done?

We should have been talking about that every day. Nancy Pelosi told Milley, "He's crazy. You know he's crazy. He's been crazy for a long time." Sorry, but that's way more important than whose toes Milley might have stepped on. And if Trump announces that he's running in 2024, then we're gonna need to make the fact that he's out of his tiny mind front and center in any discussion of him. It's the only story. We can't be too polite about talking about the mental health of someone whose mental health affects every person on the fucking planet. And we sure as hell can't be distracted by something that isn't about life and death.

Rump ranks high on the list of people deserving the title ‘enemy of humanity.’ If not for intervention on the part of strategic individuals, the outcome could have been many orders of magnitude worse.

Miserably at covering tfg properly. He should have been locked up long time ago.

What is frightening is far too many people, which is not limited to the old, uneducated white dudes, are ok with everything he represents.

The fact that his people are being wiped out by a pandemic because they don’t want to listening to the uppity lib, continues to astonish me.

TFG is still causing deaths with his anti-vaxx, anti-mask, Nazi, stupidity. That just one guy would listen to Trump and say, "yeah, that absolute fool is who I'm going to follow." Is stupifying. That millions do that shows how well propaganda, manipulation and media exploitation work on stupid Americans.

This was always a non story concerning Milley doing anything wrong. It is routine for counterparts of US allies and adversaries to talk to prevent misunderstandings. In fact Trump's own guy made a similar call before Milley did. Also, there were 15 people on Milley's call with him. Just more right wing look over here garbage.

From CNN "Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary for China Chad Sbragia spoke to his Chinese counterpart, in what one former US official described as a routine exchange leading into the impending transition between two presidential administrations."

And if it weren't for a few people of good faith, we'd all be fucked and that is by no means an exaggeration. Those few people...we may not like them in some ways. Some may have bent the rules to keep the lunatic in check. I don't believe Milley did. I think he stayed true to his oath. But regardless, those were the only people on earth between us and the devil. Period.

As for his followers and what's left of the Republican Party, they're just hacks, hicks and nuts. The country has always had a lot of them, but this is the first time they've actually had real power. Lets not let that EVER happen again.

Someone at the White House inner circle obviously felt he needed to be tested. This isn't something people just do out of the blue. And then to brag about "passing" a test that is used to see if someone with dementia is able to drive or manage their finances should have cinched it.

But because we tend to listen to mainstream news media, they are not going to say too much to damage trump's chances of running again. We shouldn't even be considering this as a reality, but we are because the republican party has been taken over by right wing extremists, nearly 75 million people, who crave a fascist dictatorship that favors their politics. We don't know who makes up this 75 million, we see some of them, but most are hiding behind some fake cover so that we don't know who or what they really are. these people are smart enough to stay out of the limelight, away from rallies and protest, and insurrections. they do their dirty work in other ways. MSNBC, CNN, and many democratic social media outlets are filled with these "secret" trump supporters. They run the network editing rooms and news desks, they determine how and when certain types of news is presented to the public.

trump supporters, MSNBC, CNN, newsmax, foxnews, oann are calling milley a traitor, should be tried for treason. But what they should be doing is focusing on the fact that the President of the United States, the commander in chief of the armed forces thought so little of this country, thought so little of his family, his grand kids, and the millions of people that support him that he was willing to start a catastrophic nuclear war because he lost the election to joe biden. As with all NPDs it was all about him and no one else.

ONE THINGS FOR SURE: DONALD J TRUMP IS A NEWS MEDIA GOLD MINE. IT'S THE CASH COW THAT KEEPS ON GIVIN. AND EVERY MEDIA OUTLET, BE THEY NATIONAL TV/CABLE OR SOCIAL MEDIA, LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE, THEY LOVE IT. This is why we can't seem to get rid of him. They don't want him to go away. They're all beating up on joe biden to get a share of that 75 million viewership that foxnews enjoys. beat up joe biden, go light on trump.

There have been zillions of articles about his mental stability, especially alarming for a POTUS throughout his term. People were calling psychologist to figure out what his problems were. Many people wanted to use the 25th Amend to get rid of him...back in 2017!

His mental health has been a serious problem for this country his entire term. His cabinet and VP kissed his fat butt and got more $$$$$ by remaining quiet.

We must make some sort of mental test for all POTUS candidates to take and pass before even campaigning. We need to make a new law just for this. Also, more laws to replace POTUS "traditions" like disclosing your income tax records. Traditions are not kept by insane fascists.

Trump's mental condition will absolutely be the only story that matters if he runs again. As time goes by, I find myself more and more hopeful that he will fade away or be locked up by then. *KNOCKS WOOD* But if I'm wrong, and he does somehow manage to run, we must never stop reminding people that this man is clinically and criminally deranged and MUST NOT be entrusted with the safety of this country and the world EVER AGAIN.
