Bain closed Sensata - rather than face the TV Cameras of the Ed Show

Sensata temporarily closes plant in response to tonight’s ‘ED Show’ broadcast

Bainport.com reports that in response to Friday’s live broadcast of The Ed Show on MSNBC, Sensata sent workers in Freeport, Illinois, home (with pay) today and closed the auto sensor plant for the entire weekend, barricading the entrances and telling second shift workers not to report.

The Ed Show announced earlier this week that it was going to broadcast from Freeport, Illinois, on Friday to cover Sensata’s planned plant closure and to examine whether workers were getting a fair severance package.

Despite a record profit last year, 170 Sensata Technologies workers are losing their jobs in December to China thanks to the greedy bullies at Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital.

The move pits American workers against young women in China who are paid 99 cents an hour and work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, according to Charles Kernaghan, director of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights.

I usually don't watch the cable news networks and I received a few calls telling me about his broadcast. I am glad I had a chance to catch it and wish there was more coverage like his. Where's Anderson Cooper or anyone else from CNN? They need to get their old Ted Turner mojo back and stop being a sleazier version of the already sleazy Fox.

This event is something I never thought I would see in my lifetime. I grew up surrounded by union workers ,sympathizers, and some had actually been union organizers back when it could be deadly. I heard stories about how ruthless some companies and owners could be. I saw movies like 'The Grapes of Wrath' and 'Matewan' and thought that was in the past.

Then came Reagan. Now we are at the point where owners openly send threats to their workers about who to vote for. This one of the most important elections in the history of this country. If Romney gets in the white house he will make it his personal mission to destroy every inch of ground the labor movement fought for. People better wake up.

The jobs will return to America when we're willing to do that.

Actually, I don't think it will have to be quite so severe, but minimum wage, 40+ hour workweek, 8+ hour days, no health benefits, no overtime, no holiday, no worker protection. That's when the jobs will come back to America.

Greedy, greedy fucks.
