Why is there no talk of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine?

The dangerous divisions in the US stem directly from Reagan killing this policy.

It's more difficult to repair the damage now because of internet and social media but it could at least cause Fox and other broadcast media to moderate the treasonous crap.

The Fairness doctrine only effect what was broadcast over the airwaves (TV before Cable, AM/FM Radio). It didn't include cable or internet, and that is our primary source of info these days.

The media is controlled by just a few giant corporation. Those folks don't want to loose any money. Anyone who proposes a return of the fairness doctrine will get dog piled, bigley.

Basically the Fairness Doctrine wouldn't account for much these days.

As has been pointed out, it only applied to the public airwaves.

People thought that the lies must be true if no one made people like Limbaugh, Hannity - FOX "news" etc stop saying what they did. Ive talked abut the damage being done for about a decade now.

We have to wake people up and put protections back in place

So, behind all this faith in thr FCC to bring peace and harmony along with Truth is looking to the government to play Mommy and make it all better. More like Big Brother. Even with best intentions, power can cause trouble.
