gets away with it and claims she ran off and was missing.
Something very dark happened here and I hope the truth and details will be revealed.

(8,387 posts)There are a lot of missing people. This one gets attention because she is a pretty white young woman.
What odds agave you calculated?

Others have gone missing in Grand Teton in the past few weeks. The Jackson Hole News and Guide reported that Robert "Bob" Lowery, 46, of Texas has been missing since August 20.

Sure lots of people go missing in remote places, but not too many go missing next to a road unless foul play is involved.
Also they can determine sex fairly quickly..clothing is still preserved..It's been less than a month.

(10,156 posts)Just saying to odds are quite low. And to rebuttal on what you said about her being a white woman. I'm surprised they even care it's a woman considering the country really hates woman.

(1,997 posts)In college, I lived for a year in an RV with three other people. No one killed anybody.

(2,962 posts)Especially a small van with two people.
Her boyfriend didn't strike me a normal guy.
My RV is a small class C bigger then her van.
That is a lot of togetherness.
You better like the person you are with.

(2,962 posts)There is video of her crying, very upset.
He might be a control freak.
Why do you think he is running.
If he is so innocent or it was a accident, why run.

(48,999 posts)You might have strong grounds for suspicion, but you are not in possession of the two facts your post pretends to know.
That's what is called fake news.

(2,962 posts)A dear friend of mine escaped a control freak.
They can be nice outside and a monster in private.
Like two different people.
Why is he running if he is so innocent.
Just turn himself in.
The couple have been traveling for awhile.
Her family might not know anything.
My friend said nothing until her husband almost killed her

(26,068 posts)It's so sad and tragic.
And, the murderer's parent sent the FL LEOs on a wild goose chase the last two days.
Very interesting the camping Youtuber's video probably broke the case.

(32,634 posts)... but he drives home in the same van, without her.
He said they separated and he didn't know where she was. And now he's hiding or missing, so he can't be questioned.
Two possibilities: either he killed her and left her there. Or, he left her alive and she killed herself. Someone else killing her is also a possibility, but it seems remote.
So the cops need to examine the guy's phone records. The phone records will show whether he tried to call her after she left. If not, why not? Maybe because he knew she was already dead. Who else did he call on the way home? If his phone has GPS, and it almost certainly does, then they can retrace his movements after he left her.

(32,634 posts)She needed the day alone to update their Youtube blog. It's called "VanLife" and it's a series of videos telling about their extended trip out west. The last time the Pedito family spoke to her was August 27th. The parents received a text from her phone on Aug. 30th, but they don't believe she sent it. https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/national/my-only-daughter-is-missing-father-of-woman-who-disappeared-in-utah-pleads-for-help
Someone else posted a video on Facebook, showing that they drove right past her van on August 27th, and there was apparently no one in the van. https://www.democraticunderground.com/100215872796
So how did the boyfriend get the van, if he wasn't with her? If they spoke by phone, the phone records would show that. If Brian really texted Gabby's parents using her phone, doesn't that mean he took it before he left? If he took her phone then she must have been already dead.
We're getting it in little pieces, but I believe the phone records will clear it up.
Effete Snob
(8,387 posts)How could anyone tell whether there was someone in the van or not?
If they were in the back of the van together, no one would see them.
There was no one in the front seats of the van, but it's not as if anyone spends a lot of time in those seats when camping.

(32,634 posts)Maybe he left earlier than he said. Maybe the parents are giving him cover.
There are still some pieces missing, but the Feds are on the case now.

(8,052 posts)he may have driven back to Florida that night or the next morning--Aug 28th or 29th to Sept. 1 is certainly doable. I was thinking he left around Aug. 30 because that's when Petito's mother said she last received a text from Petito. I'm sure police will be checking gas station surveillance, phone data and credit card/ATM records all down I-80, I-25, I-70, etc to figure out his timeline of when he left WY.

(989 posts)NORTH PORT, Florida (WABC) -- The FBI confirmed a body matching the description of Gabby Petito was found in Grant Teton on Sunday.
The tragic development came after the Teton County Coroner said authorities had responded to a body found at the Teton National Forest in Wyoming, the same general area where law enforcement had been searching for Gabby Petito.
