Apathy in our ranks,

Personally I feel that the people who are telling us to relax that there is plenty of time to pass legislation and to hold Trumpers accountable are the people who are a threat to our party. Sorry if that is negative but it's because I am worried about our party and our democracy.

Speaker Pelosi has promised to bring up the Senate passed infrastructure bill and in conjuncture with president Biden's Build Back Better 3.5 trillion dollar bill. I am extremely afraid of neither bill being passed. The 3.5 trillion dollar bill is on track to be voted down by a couple of Democratic Senators and if that happens then progressive Dems in the House will vote down the Senate infrastructure bill. You tell me how that will look in the mid terms. People like me have been calling wolf for many months now and have been told to relax, all is just fine. OK then assuage my fears.

As far as holding higher ups in the Trump cult accountable, well, Merrick Garland is a nice guy, highly qualified, maybe we needed a not so nice guy. I have complained a dozen times here why our DOJ didn't stop the fraudit in Arizona and now it's spread to other states. Our DOJ is defending Donald Trump in his defamation law suit v E. Jeanne Carroll, our DOJ had the authority to shut down the indictment of the lawyer involved in the Alfa bank server but he allowed it to proceed.

Every time I post something like this I am told to be patient and every time I post something like this it gets closer to Kornacki time.

Stop telling me to be patient, I need to see progress, I need to see action, my next post may be too late.

The Republican game plan is Covid carnage, outrage and running out the clock.

FBI Director Wray and Merrick Garland are ( cough ) overripe.

The voting rights bill is the topmost priority. Without it, any progress in any area will certainly be fleeting and meaningless in the long run.

I am willing to sacrifice everything else for the voting rights bill.

and my hopes lie with the bill that Manchin co-sponsored, with that said, there is no way in hell that Manchin will get 10 GQPers to vote for his bill. My question, when his bill gets voted down will he agree to a filibuster carve out for election/voting bills? That's the bottom line, always has been now for months, time is wasting.

Anyone who believes that we can pick up seats in the House without passing one of the voting rights bills must not be aware of how gerrymandering will affect those seats. When fraudits are allowed in Arizona, Pa. Wisconsin, information gained from 3rd parties (Cyber Ninjas) can be used in redistricting.

Which makes me wonder: In what state do you live? You say ne "need to see action," and that makes me wonder: What actions are you taking in your own state to push progress forward?

Right now, there are a few Democrats in the House and Senate who are withholding their votes on certain bills. For whatever reason. Do any of them live in your state? If so, have you contacted them yourself?

We have 435 House members and 100 Senators. None of us can reach all of them. We need people to reach out to those in their own states and districts. That is the action that can get results.

What doesn't get results? Posting on DU about your dissatisfaction.

I live in Pa. where there are efforts being made to gather up my personal voting information, my driver's license #, my SS number. I am pissed because the fraudit should never have spread beyond Arizona. Rep. Dush is not my Rep but he is close to my district. I write letters to the editor in my local paper bashing Dush. I email and called Dush bashing his attack on my privacy. I am pissed because our DOJ only wrote a stern letter to the Cyber Ninjas in Arizona. Federal election/voting laws were violated in Arizona: Title 52 - Voting and Elections - Subtitle I and II; Ballots, voting systems, and other election materials were no longer in the custody of election officials. Our DOJ did basically nothing which allowed the Big Lie, allowed another fraudit to spread to my state. Oh Yeah, when I call Dush they want to know if he is my Rep., they are good at giving me the run around.

I served on council in my borough for 2 terms to fight against these bastards and I live in deep red Trump country. If you believe that reaching out to State Trump Reps will get results I'm guessing with all due respect, that you have never called them. A Democrat will never be elected in my district, because it is red and because of gerrymandering. I can scream and yell at Rep. Dush but he can just laugh at me because he has a safe seat as long as he wants it. Oh and my Rep, Glenn Thompson, breathes methane and drinks oil, he is a puppet for the oil and gas industry and his seat is safe.

I'm sorry for being uppity, but I fought these people years ago when they were trying to strip coal and frack our watershed. I took on the powers, the local mafia, and we won many concessions even when the law wasn't on our side, I expect the same fight from our Washington Reps., I expect our DOJ to fight for justice, to fight to enforce the law.

Sounds like you've worked hard in hostile territory. However, that does not change the balance of power in the federal government, which is what we must do before we can do much of anything that is useful.

My argument still stands. Just a few people are keeping things from happening. You say no Democrat will ever be elected to Congress from your district. OK. You would know that better than I do, of course. So, are their nearby districts where that is not necessarily true? If so, work in those to help bring Democrats to the voting booths.

If you're talking to a brick will with your representatives, talk to voters instead and try to convince them that they are poorly represented. People are thinking right now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and how poorly the Republicans acted in helping them survive it. There are votes to be had - maybe more than you think.

As for your personal information, lots of people already have that. Government agencies in particular. That's water under the bridge.

2nd year of my 2nd term serving the Democratic Party in my precinct, state district, fed district, county - and state.

One - it's going to help us this November. People is pissed. They are. Even in my Red County - the fact that we have a current County Elected official who was at 1/6 and who has faced no consequences - is to our advantage.

Two - I would prefer a slow roll until next summer. Maximum impact for House members who did not vote to impeach DJT in January of this year. Maximum impact for the Senate.

I believe we are picking up seats in the Senate - and in the House. Senate examples - PA and Ohio. I think if Ryan wins the Ohio Senate Nomination and either Fetterman or Lamb win the nomination in PA - it's a slam dunk. House examples - let's see how redistricting works. It won't all be in the GOP's favor.

Regarding the current Legislation - I'm in total alignment/agreement with you on this. I think these are the marquis campaign ads for next year. They simply must pass, and people need to see jackhammers, traffic cones, and tax breaks. One thing you can do - if you know ANYONE in WV or AZ - henpeck them to henpeck their Senators.

Ultimately - its on West Virginians and Arizonans if the legislation doesn't pass. Unfortunately - their Senators are not afraid of them.

They need to terrify their Senators the way we do in NJ. I mean - we harass, harangue, and intimidate Booker and Menendez to get them to vote our will.

The republicon plan is to stall, block and run out the clock so that Democrats can accomplish nothing. They are being helped by certain elected "democrats", a corporate-owned media that rushes to blame Biden for everything and scream "both sides", and apparently by those on our side who want to sit back and let it happen.

I'm also inclined to agree with the above post about the voting rights laws. I don't want to see other things sacrificed, but I do think that is THE most important thing to get passed. If people can't vote, we'll never control the government again. With passage of the things in the voting laws, we will then actually be able to elect more Democrats and make certain elected "democrats" irrelevant.

Right now, anyone saying GOTV, "we just need to elect more dems", "we just need to turn out more" is either delusional, has their head in the sand like an ostrich, or is a republicon troll, because sitting back, relaxing and relying on "Just GOTV' is exactly what they are hoping we'll do. It's a plan for our failure.

Patience works against us. While we "be patient", our enemies are working feverishly to make sure we can't vote and/or our election results won't matter. They are making sure they will win and keep control. They just need a little more time to finish up, so we must "be patient".
