Saw my first all black flag flying at a nearby home

Not a neighbor but in my small town..

Found this on some random internet site: The color black is a non-color or anti-color swallowing all other. The black flag supposedly "negates all borders" and symbolizes the final abolishment of the state and everything connected with its rule. It also represents the anarchists' allegiance to nothing, and the plain black is therefore the total void of allegiance.

This is from https://www.symbols.com/symbol/black-flag: The black flag, and the color black in general, have been associated with anarchism since the 1880s. Many anarchist collectives contain the word "black" in their names. There have been a number of anarchist periodicals entitled Black Flag. The uniform blackness of the flag is in stark contrast to the colorful flags typical of most nation-states. Additionally, as a white flag is the universal symbol for surrender to superior force, the counter-opposite black flag would logically be a symbol of defiance and opposition to surrender.

From a response on Quora.com: The Black Flag was flown by certain irregular Confederate Army units in the American Civil War of 1861-1865 to symbolize that they would neither give, nor accept quarter; symbolizing the opposite of the white flag of surrender. The Anarchist black flag has been an anarchist symbol since the 1880s. Hence, solid black flag, therefore, symbolises firm and stable {of determination and not to yield to pressure tactics or influence brought to bear upon the concerned].

This is from a Hindu website, https://www.hindujagruti.org/news/52644.html, quoting an analyst from a defunct anti-extremist think tank: Monochrome flags are an ancient tradition in ancient Eastern, Arabic, and Islamic tradition, and some people believe one of the Prophet’s original banners was black, according to the Quilliam Foundation. Modern jihadists therefore adopted this style to legitimise their causes. Therefore, the flag is in fact not unique to the group, according to Charlie Winter, senior researcher on Jihadism at the counter-extremism think tank the Quilliam Foundation. “A lot of people talk about the ISIS flag or the Islamic State flag, however there is no such thing. It’s a flag they have adopted that has political and theological significance.” he told The Independent. The flag in its entirety is used by Al-Shabab in Somalia and Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula amongst others, Winter added. He went on to explain that ISIS “have done a good job of co-opting” the flag for their cause, even when it is used in a context unrelated to the organisation.

I'm trying to find words to express how I feel about seeing this in my neighborhood, but words fail me. These are people living in an alternate reality, one that I wouldn't recognize. One filled with boundless hate and contempt. People who would happily see me dead for my political views. These are not people with legitimate opposing views of the future of America. These are domestic terrorists, or they're being groomed as domestic terrorists, or, at best, they're wannabe domestic terrorists. Their black flag is no different than the ISIS black flag. The words on the ISIS flag are: “There is no god but God," followed by "Mohammad is the messenger of God," A few small modifications, and you have the makings of a new flag for American domestic terrorists.

I would assume they were in mourning, and if I had run into them, would have offered condolences.

Maybe if they heard that often enough, they would take the frigging flag down.

no return address of course, just from old bud "Bob."

If I should see one, we'll do that. Being laughed at is not the response they're looking for.

There may be other reasons for people to fly it, but the one that shows up most often in searches is violent right wing takeover of the US. It also implies that people who are not sufficiently right wing will be eliminated when that happens.

It wouldn’t hurt to call the FBI tip line with their address.

Someone posted about this on DU last week.
That was the first I had seen it called a "no quarter will be given" flag.

A guy in my neighborhood hung on the front of his house right after the election. It replaced his Trump 2020 flag, and I'm sure this is what it meant.

Around Juneteenth - we put up a Civil War Era American flag. We also had several signs (professionally made) declaring our home "The Free State LastName".

Are you sure they are to the right - and not the left? I had a Trumpublican neighbor give me a thumbs up the first time they saw it. Two days later they wouldn't look at me. They didn't realize the symbolism - and must have changed their mind.

I'm familiar with the black flag's intent and meaning - but I could see some of my smart assed leftist neighbors doing it to needle the few Trumpublicans left in our precinct.

With any luck whatever plague kills them will be inactivated after a few hours simmering in the stew pot.

The flag of the traitors. Literally no other way to make yourself a target for the FBI's watchlist.
