KICK ME UP PLEASE! :0)So, Aurora, Colorado's Congressional race is close, close, close. And now the sitting Republican, Mike Coffman has been accused of plagiarism. It seems he wrote a couple of Op-ed columns, one for the Denver Post and one for the Denver Business Journal. The Post Column had portions that were plagiarized from a Paul Ryan piece and the Business Journal had portions that were identical to a column from Sam Graves.
When he got caught, Coffman came up with this excuse: he says he didn't write them. His staff wrote them so he shouldn't be responsible for their content--all he did was sign his name to them and run them under his byline at the newspaper. Because, you see, all he did was submit work that someone else wrote and sign his name to it. Now how in the heck could that be considered plagiarism?
I am hoping that the DU hits on this post will push this meme into the mainstream internet. Last week the meme used in my post about Scott Dejarlais got enough hits on DU that it shot to the top page of google's image search and was picked up by other websites. Now when you google Dejarlais' name the meme is the second or third page. Can we do the same thing with this meme of Mike Coffman? I know other websites come here to get pictures, memes and ideas for their own blogs. How about we launch this one out into cyberspace? And, please, feel free to stick it on your posts while we try to get the word out on this dishonest Congressman. This red seat could be blue with just a little bit of extra effort. This here is my contribution.
U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman duplicated others' words in Post, DBJ op-eds

I think the meme is a very powerful political tool. quick to make, easy to send, funny if done right and EASY TO SHARE. In this day and age it is all about the sharing.
I won't be surprised if a couple thousand people over this weekend see the meme--that alone will put it up on the google results. If a big website borrows it, hell, it might be on the first page this weekend.
That's is an effective change in the landscape. Right now if you google search his image they are all, either a nice news shot or a PR shot of they guy. To get a picture in the mix with bright graphics and information, right there on the front page, that's good stuff.
:0) happy weekend!

(4,359 posts)everyone just assumes they are red. I think some of those seats are in play and then you have the scumbags...West, King, DesJarlais who have become so hard to stomach that they have made their seats come into play just by being gross. Coffman gets to go on this list now too. Liars who just might get themselves fired.
