VANCOUVER EAST (which just closed) is assigned to the Liberals on the basis of...a total of 22 votes from 1 precinct reporting.

They assign a seat and then take it away in real time. I think it is a valid way of doing it.

And the don’t have a guy waving is arms around and jumping up and down in front of “the board,” which is a pleasure in itself!

i assume if the liberals get the 170 seat majority they will retain Trudeau as PM?

5. If they end up with the most seats, he stays as PM. If he snags 170, he gets a majority government

I too am not an expert, but I think that puts his party far more clearly into the drivers seat. But I do know that even if he just gets a plurality of the seats, he will maintain a minority government.

Trudeau has a minority government, if he gets to 170, then the Liberals will have a majority. The NDP has been supporting Trudeau's minority, as they have, going back decades to his father Pierre.
