finally - news about J&J, boosters -- and it's good news

Two dose version of Johnson & Johnson shot 94% effective against Covid-19, study finds

(CNN)A two-dose version of Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine provides 94% protection against symptomatic infection, the company said Tuesday -- making a two-dose regimen of J&J's Janssen vaccine comparable to a two-dose regimen of Moderna's or Pfizer's.

Plus, the company said, adding a booster dose to a single shot of the vaccine raised immunity even more, and should also protect people strongly against infection.

The company released some details of three studies looking at various aspects of its Janssen vaccine, and said that, taken together, they showed the vaccine provided long-lasting protection that could be boosted with an extra shot.

A second study showed people given a booster shot six months or longer after their first dose had a 12-fold increase in antibodies -- compared to a four-fold increase for people who got a second dose at two months. So protection should be stronger if people get boosters later, Dr. Dan Barouch, head of Beth Israel Deaconess' Center for Virology and Vaccine Research, told CNN.

"If you wait longer and have boost at six months or later then you likely will have better boost," said Barouch.

The major media, who couldn't remember from day to day or even hour to hour what lies the former guy was continuously spewing, have fixated on President Biden's announcement that he was planning to give everyone booster shots. Subsequent to that, of course, the FDA met and said that it wasn't recommending booster shots for everyone, but only for high risk persons and people over 65. And then, for now, those who got the Pfizer vaccine. Okay, reset. New reality.

Except there's no reset in the media. They keep bringing up Biden's plan as if it's the current plan (it's not) and that Biden has somehow failed. No, the FDA changed things, remember? They don't remember. But they do keep saying that it's all so confusing! First they wanted to give everyone boosters, then it was just some people. And now the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has shown great promise with a booster, the company has announced. But nobody's getting the J&J booster! Confusing!

Of course, they had no trouble going along with the former guy saying that it was only 15 cases and Covid 19 would be totally gone within days, maybe a couple of weeks. Then, okay, it wasn't gone like magic, but it would be gone by Easter. Then by summer. Then after we all started injecting bleach. Then after we shined a light in our circulatory systems. And nothing was confusing to the media. They just reported it all as if the world was created bright and shiny and new this morning.
