Hopefully we will finally see the fall of the Slobfather, his inner circle and his ReTHUG goons
Let's go Select Committee!
By the way every single internal poll showed that Slobby was losing to Biden.
That led to the first impeachment. The failed coup led to the second one.
He had long decided that he would be president for life.

(11,992 posts)for life. Talk about 3rd world status and the USA, the Constitution would be no more as to the beacon of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And the effed up republican party backs him.
Hundred of years down the line, will the USA survive another coup attempt. I think so.

(30,613 posts)The Constitution is clear; no officer of the government is above the law. The President can be impeached AND prosecuted, and it's unforgiveable that the former failed, and the latter was not even attempted.
Still no sign that any prosecution is coming. Maybe in NY. At the Federal level, Trump's coup troops are being let out on the street to do it all over again. No indication at all that he's personally in any joepardy.

(4,473 posts)When Spiro Agnew was indicted for taking bribes, Nixon asked the Justice Department for an opinion about whether a sitting president can be indicted. Some middle-level lawyer, who was easily able to see what Nixon wanted, wrote an opinion saying that sitting presidents can neither be indicted nor prosecuted.
So that's all the policy is: a politically motivated statement from a DOJ lawyer. It has no actual force behind it.

(11,617 posts)The street I had to take on my bicycle to get to work, ran due east-west. A week on either side of each equinox, the sun was blinding every morning as I headed east. And cars coming up behind me were also blinded.
