Missouri High-School Students Spark Outrage With Petition Calling for Return of Slavery
‘DISCIPLINE INCIDENT’

A Missouri school district has been left reeling after several high-school students reportedly started a petition demanding the reinstatement of slavery, The Kansas City Star reports. Details on the incident are scarce, with a spokesperson for the Park Hill School District confirming only that there was a “discipline incident” at Park Hill South High School last week and several school officials releasing statements that allude to racism. “We are outraged, hurt, and saddened that this occurred,” Park Hill South Principal Kerrie Herren said in a statement to students. “This is not who we want to be at Park Hill South. Our differences make us stronger. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment.”

Parents also were reportedly told via email of “unacceptable and racist statements that some students posted online during a school-related activity.” The principal of another high school within the district is said to have confirmed to parents at a Monday meeting that the incident in question was a racist petition. It was not immediately clear how many students were involved in the incident, and what “school-related activity” prompted it. The district says it has set up listening sessions to hear from students and parents affected by the petition.

Without Christianity, slavery couldn't have existed in the US. Of course other Christians worked to get it abolished, but slavery in the South was considered divinely ordained.

Which one of them wants to buy and own another human being?

Is this a foolish and insidious suggestion of boosting the economy of Missouri?

How are they going to get around those pesky 11th to 14th Amendments to the Federal Constitution?

The "joke" excuse is a old-as-the-hills racist play. Its disgusting and outs anybody who uses it as a racist (or other hater: misogynist, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Muslim, anti-Jewish, etc)

I'm willing to sign a petition that puts those disgusting teens and the parents who raised them in chains so they can be worked to death and hope they're not going to be whipped.

first off all (and most importantly): Where the hell do the students come up with the attitude they are displaying?

second: Don't they know that posting stuff like this online is STUPID?

third: I'm really glad they were stupid enough to post this online for all to see. We know who and what they are now. No guess-work. While it is sad that these attitudes still exist in the world, I love it when people out themselves.

fourth: Americans have been working for slave wages for decades now. Slavery hasn't gone away.

fifth (and someone else already mentioned this): I'd bet my bottom dollar that these kids were raised in "Christian" homes

Lots of elitist racists around here.

I have heard that the military warns their people that this is a racist area. Lots of fairly wealthy people in this area.
