So much good work by our President gets lost in the news maw. Keep highlighting achievements. And please expand SCOTUS before all our rights are rolled back.

(21,264 posts)Trump appointed over 200 judges and Google told me that president Biden appointed 9 with 2 dozen more nominees waiting to be confirmed. If we are just talking about appeals court judges then I wish someone had explained this because the numbers I Google don't add up. I'm sure the post is accurate but for dummies like me I need clarification.

(21,264 posts)Trump appointed 54 Appeals court judges in 4 years while president Obama appointed 55 appeals court judges in 8 years.
Now I'm really confused.

(13,911 posts)means that Biden has had more confirmed at this point in his presidency than Trump at the same time. Just a guess, not sure.

(16,281 posts)I think that's what it means when it says "any new president." They sure could have worded it a lot more clearly!

(92 posts)Trump had 274 nomination for federal judges and 220 got in. I remember reading about this last year and wondering why no one was picking up on it

(58,785 posts)at all levels faster than anyone but Nixon -- so far. Also historically diverse. He focused on nominations for blue states first because those are easier to get confirmed, and senate Democrats are racing to back them and get them confirmed, faster than any time since Nixon. The senate has confirmed at least 11 so far, 2 federal judges in the last couple days, one appellate to the 10th Circuit.
Things will slow down as Biden tackles nominations for red states.

(21,264 posts)My Google machine says that president Biden has 2 dozen nominees waiting to be confirmed with 9 judges already confirmed.
As far as faster than other presidents, possibly, but bite my tongue, we had better keep the Senate in 2022, make hay while the sun shines I say.

This is all good stuff, of course.

(23 posts)President Joe Biden quietly hit a milestone on Thursday < June 24th>: With the help of Senate Democrats, he has confirmed more lifetime federal judges than any president has done in more than 50 years by this point in their first six months in office.

(21,264 posts)since June president Biden got 2 more judges confirmed which gives him 9 in 9 months. 9 judges is still a ways off from 230.

Also, not having a year-one SCOTUS vacancy has also given Biden and the Senate more time to focus on lower court nominees.
