I am more and more convinced each day that Republican politicians

(and Faux Nooz) really believe that their bases are made up of morons.

Why else would they spout so much bullshit and misinformation? "I keep them angry so they vote for me?"

Meanwhile, their bases are also slowly dying out from Covid. It's like an ethnic cleansing.

While moron would be the colloquial term, the reality is that people who tend toward conservatism, are typically people who need to be told what to think. They tend to be drawn toward certainty and "authoritative voices" regardless of whether those voices are accurate or not. They tend to be more reactive to fear and anger.

The above translates into people who are more susceptible to manipulation through fear, resentment, and calls to authority. This is one of the major reasons that you hear very little nuance on Fox and other right wing media outlets. With mainstream or what would be considered "liberal" outlets, you hear a great deal of complexity, nuance, and discussion. Right wing shows and politicians speak loudly and in simplistic language that is often emotionally charged. Designed to spark fear, outrage, and uncertainty, which is then countered by a "follow me" type message that serves to pull the viewer/constituent in and make them dependent.

People criticize Democrats for not being good at messaging, which in some ways is valid. However, our message is complex and there is not a lot of certainty in life so the message from a liberal perspective is not designed to be "certain". It is designed to give people information and choices. The conservative message is authoritarian and designed to motivate people through fear and anger. To make them stop thinking and start feeling, then to act on that fear and anger, not on reason.

This was inspired by the principle – which is quite true within itself – that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their EMOTIONAL NATURE than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primative SIMPLICITY OF THEIR MINDS they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

cultivated their base of morons. These politicians are Fascists that are bent on ending democracy and moving our country to an authoritarian form of one political party government. They will end all forms of what they consider to be government “hand outs” like Medicare and Social Security once they take firm control of power.

The problem now, is that their base has also been their recruiting pool for the last 20 years.

If you design a party for morons, eventually you get a party of morons.
