There's been national focus over the last few days on the unfolding story of Gabby Petito, the 22-year-old white woman whose death was ruled a homicide on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after she was last seen on a cross-country road trip with her now-missing boyfriend.
Media coverage of the case is intense and, as some people have pointed out, disproportionate to the kind of attention typically given to missing Indigenous women and people of color.
The families of two Black men who have gone missing in recent months Jelani Day and Daniel Robinson are drawing attention to this disparity, and pleading for the public's help in finding answers. Here are their stories.

His face was plastered on the news before that body was found
Its pretty obvious the police think its him
I dont blame the mom from being beside herself but she should recognize the hours of time the professionals and volunteers put in to search the grid after they found the car

Robinson appears to have left his vehicle injured (since he left his phone) and expired in the desert. After a futile search effort & 3 months in the desert, his remains are likely scavenged. If the location of his crash was known (the article didn't say), maybe the internet could help find likely places he would have wound up, but who knows if they are places that weren't searched already. Buckeye is a suburb of Phoenix.
In Petito's case, crowd-sourcing the investigation actually helped. I'm not sure how the public can help here.
