A national asthma organization has warned of the dangers of a recent social media trend of people inhaling hydrogen peroxide through a nebulizer to treat or prevent COVID-19.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) said in a blog post on Tuesdaythe trend seen on websites such as Facebook, Twitter and TikTok is "concerning and dangerous."
"DO NOT put hydrogen peroxide into your nebulizer and breathe it in. This is dangerous!" the organization said in its post. "It is not a way to prevent nor treat COVID-19."
A nebulizer is a machine used by people with asthma that turns liquid medicine into mist, which people breathe through with a mask or mouthpiece.

don't think I can add how much I feel when people do stupid things that they were taught not to do.

(6,110 posts)fire-ant bites. Florida has them all around my house. Working in yard, they bite my hands and feet, first it feels like the bite area is on fire. Then the bite gets infected with a big blister. To speed up healing, I pop the blisters and rub peroxide 4-5 times each day, and they heal fast.

(22,214 posts)However the idea of bleach as mentioned by the OP is terrifying.
I cleaned the hem of a shower curtain with bleach one time and made myself very sick. The shower curtain was in the tub and I was leaning over it to clean it.
Never again. I would rather just toss the thing
I have had scent sensitivity ever since.

(22,214 posts)My mom was an expert in pouring it on a wound
I rinse my scalp with it occasionally, and it is a pretty good mouthwash. It just doesn't taste very good.
Several years ago, dentists were recommending scrubbing a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into the gumline.
I soak my Invisiliners in it a couple of times a week

(1,297 posts)Hydrogen peroxide is one component of a homemade three part solution that includes baking soda and dishwashing fluid to create an enzymatic spray to neutralize pet urine. It actually works really well and is much less expensive than commercial pet enzymatic products. I learned this the hard way.
