Trumpworld’s Star Lawyers Exit as Storm Clouds Gather
BETTER CALL SAUL
Donald Trump and his inner circle face mounting legal troubles all while a number of the ex-president’s highest-profile lawyers have ejected from his orbit.

Civil and criminal investigations in New York and Georgia. Defamation suits from two women. A civil suit over misuse of inauguration funds. A number of complaints related to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. And a new lawsuit related to the disclosure of the former president’s taxes.

Donald Trump is facing even more legal challenges than normal—which is saying something for a man so litigious and familiar with legal duress. But even though he is someone who tends to keep the same people around him for longer than he should, a number of the ex-president’s longtime, high-profile lawyers have recently parted ways with Trumpworld.

When Trump sued The New York Times and his niece Mary earlier this week, the attorney who filed the lawsuit was a relatively unknown lawyer. Alina Habba, based in the same town as the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, comes with a résumé far less ostentatious than the legal CVs that the twice-impeached former president has come to expect. But Trump appears to be leaning on Habba now to take on his niece and the Times reporters who disclosed some of Trump’s previous tax filings.

At the same time, Habba’s ascension in Trump’s legal hierarchy comes alongside the conspicuous fall of another: the Gawker-killing celebrity lawyer Charles Harder, whom the ex-president and members of his family have relied upon for years to go after journalists, authors, and major book publishers Trump felt had crossed the line.

In previous years, a case against New York Times reporters and a family member who Trump alleged was the source for the journalists would have easily fallen to Harder, a lawyer the 45th U.S. president once lauded as a hard-charging attack dog of the rich and the powerful.

Trump Lawyer Suing NYT, Mary Trump Represented Former ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ Star Who Recently Claimed Facebook ‘Disabled’ Account for Wishing Melania Trump a Happy Birthday

Tuesday’s filing was signed by Bedminster, New Jersey-based attorney Alina Habba, a founder and managing partner at the law firm Habba Madaio & Associates, LLP. The firm’s Bedminster offices are just a 10-minute drive away from Trump National Golf Club Bedminster (the filing indicates the firm also has Manhattan office space). While this appears to be Habba’s first stint representing Trump, she did previously work on a matter tangentially related to former First Lady Melania Trump.

On July 22, Habba noted on her website that she represented Siggy Flicker — a Trump supporting former star on the reality television series Real Housewives of New Jersey. Flicker claimed that her Facebook account had been disabled over a post praising Melania Trump.

...the fact that she looks remarkably like his current wife minus 20 yrs is merely a fluke of fate.....

when we discuss 'the dumbest MAGAt is ...' the very top of the list has gotta be anyone willing to risk their reputation, throw away all the time spend studying and money to earn a law degree by associating their career with TFG ...

proof of your statement is the Cyber Ninjas defying a court order to turn over documents and communications, they simply ignore the court order. I am going to do as some suggest and stay above the fray, no I'm not, where the fuck is our DOJ? The fraudits have moved on to other states because our DOJ allowed the fraudit in Arizona.

Any lawyer with a little bit of integrity and respect for the law and him/herself would never try to defend the buffoon. I have to think that lawyers defending the buffoon would loose credibility and respect among their peers and clients, but then again we live in a bizarro world.

18. To sue the New York Times and his niece, Trump turned to a low profile attorney from New Jersey
Thu Sep 23, 2021, 04:35 PM

WOW, Marc E. Kasowitz is no longer representing TFG. Kasowitz is a major league asshole who has been represent TFG for a very long time. My son was involved in a dispute with Kasowitz in a commercial loan type transaction and was not impressed. For Kasowitz to leave TFG is a big deal

Earlier this month, one of former president Donald Trump’s best-known attorneys — veteran litigator Marc E. Kasowitz — withdrew from a case where Trump had been sued for defamation.....

It’s unclear why Kasowitz stopped representing Trump in the defamation case, which was brought by former “Apprentice” contestant Summer Zervos, or how Trump chose Habba to represent him in that suit and the one against the Times. Neither Trump nor Habba responded to requests for comment Wednesday.....

In the past, Trump turned to a different attorney, Charles Harder, for lawsuits against media outlets. Harder was known for representing wrestler Hulk Hogan in a lawsuit against the website Gawker, which resulted in a $140 million judgment and the bankruptcy of the site. Harder told The Post on Wednesday that he was no longer working for Trump, but otherwise declined to comment.

In recent weeks, three of Trump’s high-profile attorneys have withdrawn from cases where they represented him or his family. None offered a public explanation.

In addition to Kasowitz, Marc Mukasey — who had previously represented Trump’s foundation and business — withdrew from a case where he was defending Eric Trump against inquiries from the New York attorney general. Mukasey declined to comment.

Joanna Hendon, of the firm Alston and Bird, had defended Trump against a lawsuit that alleged he defrauded customers by endorsing a scheme to market video phones. But Hendon — who had represented Trump since 2018 — withdrew in August, saying in a court filing that the change had been Trump’s decision.

Trump replaced her firm with a much smaller one, Robert & Robert, located in the Long Island town of Uniondale, N.Y. Robert & Robert lists five attorneys on its website. In that case, neither Trump’s old attorneys nor his new ones responded to requests for comment Wednesday.

TFG is losing his few competent attorneys and replacing them with small law firm types. The new attorney in the NYT/Mary Trump case is with a 4 person firm who does not list which law schools their attorneys attended in part because the lead partner is from a tier 4 law school.

TFG is hurting
