Pence tells Hungarian Christian anti-migration group he hopes SC will restrict abortion rights

BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said Thursday that he is hopeful the new conservative majority on the Supreme Court created during his and President Donald Trump's administration will soon overturn abortion rights in the United States.

Pence spoke at a forum devoted to demographics and family values in Budapest, Hungary, where conservative leaders from central Europe expressed their anxieties about falling birthrates in the Western world and discussed ways to reverse the trend.

“We see a crisis that brings us here today, a crisis that strikes at the very heart of civilization itself. The erosion of the nuclear family marked by declining marriage rates, rising divorce, widespread abortion and plummeting birth rates,” Pence said.

The Budapest Demographic Summit, which was first held in 2015 and takes place every two years, has become a platform for leaders to denounce illegal migration and urge families to have more children.

Former US vice president Mike Pence and other conservative leaders are expected to attend a forum in Budapest from Thursday to discuss demographics and family values, cementing Hungary's reputation as a bastion of conservatism in the EU.

In power since 2010, nationalist Hungarian premier Viktor Orban has styled himself as an "illiberal" defender of "Christian Europe" who frequently clashes with Brussels over his anti-migration and anti-LGBTQ policies.

First held in 2015, the so-called Budapest Demographic Summit takes place every two years to rail against migration and urge Christian couples to have more children.

Note the fundamental (and fundamentalist) aim of this group Pence enthusiastically proclaimed his success at threatening abortion to - more white Christian Hungarians, fewer immigrants, especially non-Christian ones. They (and Pence) would willingly build Gilead in central Europe.

Abortion is legal and freely available in The Netherlands, and they have one of the world's lowest abortion rates per capita.

Seriously, I wanna see these fucks explain this publicly, without their selective, cherry-picked list of what rights the government can and cannot violate. Masks -- a violation of personal freedom. Women's choice -- no problem for the government to violate that personal freedom. They are a bunch of fucking hypocrites.

Are concerned about our birth rates here or people of Hungarian decent here? They want people to get married and reproduce more European Christians? I don’t know if I have this right but what is Pence doing in Hungary railing against low birth rates? Are women just baby machines to these people? They’re pro birth not pro life as they don’t care what happens after birth..no post care for the mother..no child care..no formula for the babies no nothing. Just get em born n in 9 months, have another kid. I’m just about sick of these people jamming their fear of losing whatever they think they have a right to down our throats..women’s throats.
