Five House Republicans have announced they will back the bipartisan infrastructure bill when it comes up for a vote next week despite the GOP leadership whipping members against it, The Hill reports.

1. Shows they are worried about how popular the infrastructure bill will

be in 2022 elections.

It's a shame so many Republicans are unable to do that basic math.

9. Same here. Everyone in the house is already campaigning for 2022,

and they need achievement to claim and benefits to their district. No one wants to be identified with the initial break in the dam; but when it's breached and others pouring through, that's different.

We are SO CLOSE to transforming this country I can taste it and I want both bills passed ASAP.

11. Well apparently about 40 members of the Progressive Caucus have committed to vote against it...

so they are short the votes necessary for passage.

And as Nancy Pelosi can certainly count, unless the situation changes she won't be bring the bill up for a vote on the 27th or 28th.

12. My money is on Pelosi delaying the vote past 9/27

40+ members of the CPC will vote no on the bipartisan bill if it comes to the floor before the reconciliation bill, so I doubt Pelosi will bring it to the floor under those circumstances.
