Dick's burgers in Seattle just upped its minimum wage to $19. It gives workers free health care,

3 weeks paid vacation, 50% 401(k) match and $9,000 for tuition/childcare.

Its basic burger costs $1.80.

But I was told that paying people a living wage would make burgers cost $20?

Great owners and a super burger joint. They have always taken care of their employees.

operated in much the same manner as the six drive-in locations of the Seattle chain (and with a larger menu), it is not affiliated with Dick's Drive-In.

list them by state and city so those who travel to those areas or even just live near there can visit them.

There are always lists of places to boycott but a place of where people should go would be nice to have also.

It was very hot that day. The line was very long, which is normal for Dick's. Some poor bastard, who I suspect was dehydrated, collapsed and went into convulsions right in front of the store. I WOULD have called 911 for him but didn't get the chance - about six people had their phones out and were punching in 911 before I could get my phone out of its belt case.

The nearest firehouse is 0.6 miles away and those guys must have driven a hundred miles an hour...the paramedics were there in about a minute. Impressive performance.

Only problem is, if you take the Link train from International Boulevard to Dick's, there's nowhere to sit to eat.
