Then we could have a discussion about the separation of church and state?
I haven't seen this brought up and am wondering if it would make a difference?
I do know other ordained people have run for office and it made no difference to their being elected. Maybe I'm just being petty, what is your opinion?

(6,238 posts)As far as I know a Bishop has no more spiritual authority than a normal Elder. He is simply in charge of running the Ward and organizing things. Now if Romney had ever made it as far as one of the LDS Quorums, the Church's governing councils, that would be very interesting.

(1,581 posts)Church and State....? How would someone find out if Romney had ever made it as far as one of the LDS Quorums? Would he have to resign one or other of his positions in the church and how do you go about doing that? Can you do that? Do we want a Bishop or Elder running the country?
