It literally doesnt matter that the Arizona recount effort backfired empirically. The entire purpose was to forward the Big Lie, continue the destruction of faith in democracy, and provide the Right an opportunity to learn about voting systems and their vulnerabilities.
When all is said and done, well look back on the Arizona recount as the first of many attempts by the Right to overturn an election loss via weaponized conspiracy theories and giant, mobilized administrative efforts.

OP is correct, the investigation itself was the goal. If you found out a CPA or attorney had been subject to a major investigation, wouldnt you be concerned even if they were cleared?

(34,977 posts)Wendy Rogers and her kin, if they arent going to be held accountable for their actions, that will only embolden them, yeah?
Is this what we want? They will keep pressing to decertify an election, they seem to lack this well
mindset. What were to happen if they have a q-publican Congress and Senate?
Its time to start becoming more imaginative in how we respond, its time for more action, and less theres nothing we can do about it.
We need to be less acted-upon and more actors.

(12,145 posts)are preparing to, or are doing, recounts? A while back I read that Wisconsin and Pennsylvania were doing reviews.

(58,785 posts)and many of those will have the same results, while information is revealed about the attempted coup and other criminal and treasonous activities.
Many tRump voters are likely to become openly committed to a coup d'etat now that they understand success is possible. Some'll be emboldened to openly not care if Biden was legally elected.
But we only need a few percent who normally vote Republican not to. And with all the talk of a RW coup, we only need a few more of the feckless left to become alarmed enough to vote.

(20,873 posts)Our DOJ should never have allowed ballots, voting systems and other election materials to leave the custody of election officials.
Who is in possession of all of the voter data that was turned over to the Cyber Ninjas? Will "someone" use that data to gerrymander districts, to do voter suppression? By not stopping the Az. fraudit these people have moved on to other states. As a matter of fact a judge has ordered the Cyber Ninjas to turn over information and they simply are ignoring the judges order.

(58,785 posts)as RW power blocs repeat this and other subversive activities around the nation. Do we accept that all their attacks on our systems and smashings of the law are our defeats at the outset?
It would be a way to look at it, but I question its utility as the Republicans shift their guns.

(20,873 posts)The AZ. fraudit violated federal law; Title 52 - Voting and Elections - Subtitle I and II - and all that our DOJ did was write a stern letter to the Cyber Ninjas. Our DOJ needed to hold these people accountable, that to me would have been a win.

At 64%, Democrats were more likely than Republicans, at 43%, or independents, at 42%, to express concern about voter disenfranchisement, reflecting a concern within the party about voter suppression after several cycles.

It's ridiculous for anyone to claim that "it literally doesnt matter that the Arizona recount effort backfired empirically."
Good Lord ...
So tired of people demanding certain outcomes, wringing their hands in agony over their certainty that that outcome won't occur, and then when it does occur, dismissing it as no big deal because "it doesn't matter."
It's obvious that some people really don't care about actual results, but just want to complain, no matter what

(29,322 posts)I dont think they conducted it in good faith and I dont care about the results because I knew Biden was going to win in Arizona before the election so I dont need an audit to know Biden won.
The audit really bugged me considering it took place in my home county and I would just like to live in a state where my vote counts. They never did audits when Republicans always won statewide races.
