(4,291 posts)Maybe he can get a job delivering pillows, and horse-dewormer.
Or, he might even land a job at Four Season (Landscaping). He already knows how to spread manure.

I'm generally against people getting fired just because social media have whipped up some Person of the Week to hate. Working in HR, I ignore this stuff (and yes, I have gotten anonymous e-mails to check out an employee's FB or Twitter or whatever. Guys, don't do this. I don't care).
Here, we have a 100% clear cut case where some social media stupid should result in an immediate firing with extreme prejudice.
In uniform? Check.
On the job? Check.
Affecting company reputation or implying an acceptable company policy? Check.
This guy literally checks every single box. I'm not sure how he could get himself fired any quicker other than actually setting fire to a delivery on video.
(Side note: FedEx delivered my new phone Friday. The delivery guy was almost apologetic I had to sign something in my pajamas. I was like, "It's a phone. Believe me, I want someone signing for it." He celebrated. "Hooray! New phone!" and did a little dance. Was super cute)

(1,910 posts)Technically, he was likely self employed. Many FedEx owner operator/drivers buy the route or routes and are contractors. These are bought and sold through a marketplace and some will buy multiple routes and hire others to drive for them. While other drivers will work directly for FedEx and are considered FedEx employees rather than contractors. They all have the uniform and truck so no way to tell who is a contractor. Xfinity also does this a lot.
Sounds like he was a contractor since FedEx said 'no longer provides services', so he violated the contractor terms and got his route taken away.

(9,073 posts)I know Amazon contracts with lots of different driver services, but I've always assumed FedEx drivers were directly employed by the company.
Huh. Today I learned.

(8,574 posts)As opposed to my husband for instance, who works for Fed Ex Express, which is corporate operated. All of the Fed Ex companies are separate companies under the broad Fed Ex Corp. umbrella.
At the beginning of his video, you can see the edge of his logo, and under the Fed Ex, the beginning of a G. My husband has Express there on his uni. He saw the G immediately when I showed him the video.
This wouldn't fly if he was with Express. Bring back that many packages and your manager would have strong words for you if your explanation was legit, but with that explanation your head would roll immediately.
My husband tells me that small contractors with one or two routes have been pushed out, and FedExCorp is requiring that anyone buying a Ground contract must own numerous routes. This is a recent development.
Ground and Express both deliver to the same areas. The difference is the level of service provided. Express has time limitations, for instance Priority Overnight, whereas Ground does not.

(70,102 posts)i got into it last summer w a maskhole ups driver.
asked where his mask was and he told me they "weren't supposed to wear them because we're outside." i called him a maskhole. him- you swore at me, so i can report you. you wont get your packages.
and sure enough i didnt. when i called the local hub, the guy i talked to was an even bigger ass.
it went on for a couple months. they'd send shit to access points, or reschedule it every day for the next day. sent a few things back.
i think i had to get about 5 rungs up on the chain before it got fixed.
that's what happens when it's all automated. so easy to fiddle w the knobs if you have bad intent.
this shit would have left a hell of a trail, tho. he couldnt have been doing it as much as he is claiming. it would have set off alarms, i'm pretty sure. unless he was also stealing the packages.

A former FedEx driver who vowed in a profanity-laced video to never deliver packages to houses championing the Black Lives Matter movement, Joe Biden, or Kamala Harris has since been fired and now wont be delivering packages to any houses at all.
First reported by TooFab on Friday, the delivery company terminated employee Vincent Paterno, 39, after catching wind of a TikTok video in which Paterno smugly states he will not extend services to any house with a flag representing BLM, the President or VP, using a vulgar term to mock Harris first name.

(11,949 posts)The hate we face.
There are people in my deep dark caverns of my family who dont see this dude as white.
Non-Anglosaxon name, dark eyes, kind of dark looking, not 8th generation so not one of us.
Ive got family in the most rural parts of the south. Deplorable does not accurately describe them.
Its why I have not seen them in over 30 years.
