Yes, I know that Obama referred to the terrorist element of the attack the next day, but if I were to get into the repub mindset
they think that the administration knew exactly what happened in Benghazi immediately after it happened, and then made a concerted effort to deliberately hide it from the American people. So? What could the American people have done if they knew exactly what happened, when it happened? We were in no imminent danger, so what difference did it make. It is not like this something that lasted for years on end, it was a matter of days. Even if this was the case wouldnt we expect a rational administration to take their time with any retaliation to make sure that the proper groups/people were targeted - be they organized terrorist cells or protesting civilians?
It seems reasonable to look into what could be done in the future to make our embassies safer, especially in vulnerable regions of the world, but wouldnt this be a problem unrelated to partisan politics? To me, that alone should be the topic of concern here.
What am I missing?

I am surprise that Obama has not been attacked because of the brand of toilet paper used in the White House, which Republicans believe is that soft product Charmin because Obama has been co-opted by the gay agenda instead of something manly like Brawny.

(8,652 posts)Chris Stevens was 250 miles away in the counselet in Benghazi. If he thought he was not safe, why was he there?
My take on this is that he was more than just an Ambassador. He was a hero to the Libyans and to the United States.
I believe he had more to do with Khadafi's demise than we know, and that's why he had enemies in Libya and why people demonstrated in favor of him after his killing. Thousands poured out into the streets after the assassination in support of Chris Stevens. Why do you think that was?
Because many Libyans knew the extent to which Cris Stevens went to secure their freedom.
The Obama Administration can't even tell this story without putting more American and Libyan allies at risk.
There's way more here than meets the eye. Way, way more.

(53,410 posts)The Republicans don't give any importance to making sense. They have an election to win, by crook or by crook. And if that doesn't work they'll do their best to win it by crook.

(14,177 posts)I don't think you are missing anything. Benghazi, was a terror attack. What actually happened is unclear. Should we try to make sure our people are safer when they are serving in a foreign country? Absolutely. Should we be parsing words and second guessing everything. Absolutely not. Should we be making the sobering facts clear that far fewer Americans are dying in foreign countries these days? Because most of our troops are home now. I dunno sounds kind of cold and calculating.

FoxNews has been pushing this Libya issue with the faux outrage everyday all day ever since it happened.
It is disgusting and as President Obama told Romney the night of the debate: "OFFENSIVE".

Of course the sainted Ronald Reagan was president so we'll just forget about it

No wonder good folks buy into the BS.

Some reports indicate the actual killing of the Ambassador and his SEAL team was by well-trained individuals, which brings me to this link. BLACKWATER http://www.thenation.com/article/blackwater-founder-implicated-murder# It has been reported security for the Benghazi consulate was handled by a British firm. Blackwater has a large office in London.
Benghazi was a CIA operation, which the GOP outed in their House hearings (dumbass Issa). Reports indicate Stevens DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY. According to reports, this was not an AlQueda attack. Ambassasor Stevens had been called home previously for his own safety, yet we are to believe the Obama administration would ignore his safety this time around. You can check this out on old Rachel Maddow video.
So. who do you think actually killed Ambassador Stevens and his SEAL team?
